Golf Features

As players constantly search for the slightest edge over their opponents, TAG Heuer’s latest E4 Golf Edition aims to both improve and track performance. The most exciting feature is the new automated swing detection, which utilises a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope to track shots from the tee box. The watch automatically detects when the wearer performs a swing on the tee area, meaning golfers don’t have to remember to track their drive, ensuring that the data is captured.

The automatic shot tracking also enhances existing features of the watch, such as the Driving Range feature, offering a heat map for every hole, which shows where shots landed on previous rounds. Over time, this allows golfers an overview of the strategies which work for them, helping pick the correct club and route on each hole. Automatic shot detection also ensures players have more information on the performance of each of their clubs, with the app automatically recording accuracy and distance for every tracked shot. This means the app’s trademark club recommendations are more precise than ever before.

With access to over 40,000 courses worldwide, the redesigned interface makes it easier than ever before to navigate the 2D course maps, and clearly displays hazards and distance in high resolution. By using the crown, users can now scroll up and down the fairways to inspect important information such as bunkers or the start and end of greens. Following a survey with existing Golf Edition users, both the distance to the target and the distance of the tracking shot will now show up at the same.

Design

With players top of mind, the new Golf Edition comes with golf-inspired faces for when on the links. They’ve used a simple three-hander layout with the dimples of a golf ball as the backdrop, which pairs nicely with the texture of the strap. For back at the clubhouse or in the office, TAG Heuer has redesigned some of the class Connected faces, integrating some trademark green accents.

Claiming to be the brand’s most wearable model, the Golf Edition comes with a 45mm DLC-coated titanium case and a lug-to-lug over 50mm. While not exactly small in size, TAG Heuer has refined the case profile and sculpted the lugs for optimal comfort and performance. The 1.39 inch OLED display lays underneath sapphire crystal and is encircled by a ceramic bezel. A neat touch, the markings of the bezel correspond to 18 holes on a golf course and the colour display scorecard allows players to quickly track how the round is performing.

Making the most out of every design feature, the buckle on the dimpled white strap has been upgraded to include a magnetic ball marker. Sliding out of the buckle and easy to reattach, players can mark their ball and line up putts with ease on the greens. Completing the package, TAG Heuer has included a spare marker and an additional black strap for added versatility.
