It’s no secret that Tom Brady‘s watch collection is supreme. Over the years, we’ve seen the seven-time NFL Super Bowl Champion sporting some of the world’s rarest and most in-demand pieces, from the likes of Rolex, TAG Heuer and Audemars Piguet. The sporting legend even released his own version of the the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch to go along with a stunning cinematic release that charted his remarkable story from California kid to American icon. Now, five of Tom Brady’s watches are up for grabs as part of Sotheby’s Auctions’ The GOAT Collection: Watches & Treasures from Tom Brady.

Set to go under the hammer in New York this December, The GOAT Collection offers up some of Brady’s most unique personal items, including watches, jerseys and game-worn memorabilia. Pieces from his time at the University of Michigan are available, alongside treasured New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers gear. The standout pieces, however, are undoubtedly Tom Brady’s watches, which include releases from Audemars Piguet, Rolex and more. What can you say, TB12 certainly has taste.

“I’ve been so fortunate to have such an amazing journey in my career, and these watches and collectibles really capture those unforgettable moments and all the hard work behind them,” Brady said in a statement via CNBC. “I’m excited to give fans and collectors a chance to own and cherish these special pieces from my journey just like I have.”

Tom Brady Watches Listed in The GOAT Collection

As Sotheby’s outlined, The GOAT Collection will showcase notable watches worn by Brady at high-profile events both “in and out of the sports world”. Among them, you’ll find pieces from Patek Philippe, Rolex, and IWC, as well as a unique Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon, custom-made for Netflix’s Greatest Roast of All Time: The Roast of Tom Brady.

IWC Ref. IW3891-04 Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition ‘SFTI’

  • Brand: IWC
  • Model: Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition ‘SFTI’
  • Reference: Ref. IW3891-04
  • Diameter: 44.5mm
  • Thickness: 15.7mm
  • Movement: Calibre 69380 automatic
  • Power Reserve: 46 hours
  • Water-Resistance: 60 metres
  • Price Indication: USD$12,000-$18,000

It’s somewhat unsurprising to see an IWC make the list. Brady’s connection to the partially-American watchmaker has long-been documented, through both red carpet appearances, short films and collaborative pieces. The Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition ‘SFTI’ that is being offered as part of the auction is a limited edition from 2020 that is perhaps best known for its post-Super Bowl appearance. As many fans would remember, this is the very watch that Brady wore in the now-viral clip of him tossing the Vince Lombardi Trophy across Tampa Bay following his remarkable 2021 victory.

The Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition ‘SFTI’ arrives in a 44.5mm ceramic case, complete with a contrasting black dial. Taking inspiration from the “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” watch, which was created in 2018 in honour of the US Naval Aviation Community and is available only for TOPGUN graduates, this model bears all the hallmarks of a true tactical aviation tool watch.

The watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre, a stellar chronograph movement in a classic column-wheel design with a 46-hour power reserve. Most notably, this sporty timepiece, which was limited to just 1,500 releases worldwide, is fitted with a green textile strap, making it one of the most wearable Big Pilot’s watches IWC has ever produced.

Rolex Ref. 228396TBR Day-Date

  • Brand: Rolex
  • Model: Day-Date
  • Reference: Ref. 228396TBR
  • Diameter: 40mm
  • Thickness: 15.7mm
  • Movement: Calibre 3255 automatic
  • Power Reserve: 70 hours
  • Water-Resistance: 100 metres
  • Price Indication: USD$80,000-$120,000

A classic design with an entirely opulent finish, Tom Brady’s Rolex Day-Date 40 is a true head-turner. The platinum and diamond set piece was produced circa 2021 and features a meteorite dial and bracelet. Inside, the piece is powered by the calibre 3255 automatic movement, which features Rolex‘s patented Chronergy escapement, which helps swell the power reserve figure to an impressive 70 hours.

As we’ve seen on countless occasions, Brady is a big fan of the Day-Date model, however, this option is by far the most luxurious. The diamond-set hour markers and bezel give the watch an unbridled, if not slightly gaudy, aesthetic that you certainly need a million in the bank account to back up. Unlike others in his collection, this piece does not feature Arabic numerals, which doesn’t necessarily make it rare, but it is a change of pace for Brady.

  • Model: RM-35 ‘Baby Nadal’
  • Reference: Ref. RM35-03 FQ
  • Diameter: 44mm
  • Thickness: 13.15mm
  • Movement: Calibre RMAL2 automatic
  • Power Reserve: 55 hours
  • Water-Resistance: 50 metres
  • Price Indication: USD$300,000-$500,000

Richard Mille releases can be divisive and the Ref. RM35-03 FQ ‘Baby Nadal’ is no exception. This skeletonized piece is one of the more avant-garde releases in Tom Brady’s watch collection, courtesy of the eye-catching blue and white quartz TPT case construction. Bright, bold and undeniably sporty, the timepiece is best remembered for introducing a special mechanism for the winding system that allows the wearer to adjust the winding activity based on their current level of activity. This integration of the ‘sports mode’ has made it a hit with Richard Mille’s extensive portfolio of athletes and ambassadors, of which Brady is one.

With the ‘Baby Nadal’, as it is affectionately known, Richard Mille added a special “Butterfly Rotor” system that places a hinge at the centre of the two halves. When you activate sport mode, the two parts fan out, which effectively removes the ability for the rotor to spin. It’s a remarkable, albeit confusing, feat of engineering, but if anyone is in need of a sports-mode watch – it’s probably Tom Brady.

  • Water-Resistance: 50 metres
  • Price Indication: USD$400,000-$800,000

When The Roast of Tom Brady was released on Netflix earlier this year, the whole world tuned in. The Kevin Hart-hosted comedy special saw the NFL legend vulnerable in a way we’d never seen him before, bearing the brunt of decades of jokes left in the chamber. Over two hours, comedians, friends and former on-field adversaries took shots at the Super Bowl champion, who managed to absorb them all in good humour.

For watch fans, however, The Roast of Tom Brady proved a happy hunting ground for horological pursuits. While Kevin Hart was spotted wearing a stunning Royal Oak, it was Brady’s Audemars Piguet that stole the show. The custom-made reference 26730BC.ZZ.1320BC.99 Royal Oak was crafted especially for the program and features a white gold and diamond-set case, complete with a flying tourbillon movement.

The one-of-a-kind timepiece is priced between USD$400,000 and USD$800,000 and is best characterised by its incredible dial. A series of baguette-cut diamonds adorn the salmon dial in an intricate pattern that spells out Brady’s name, making it a true colletor’s piece. The watch also features the Roman numeral VII in between his first and last name to represent his seven Super Bowl rings.

Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5980R Rose Gold

Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5980R Rose Gold

  • Brand: Patek Philippe
  • Model: Nautilus
  • Reference: Ref. 5980R
  • Diameter: 40.5mm
  • Thickness: 12.2mm
  • Movement: Calibre CH 28‑520 C/522
  • Water-Resistance: 30 metres
  • Price Indication: USD$180,000-$240,000

No great list of celebrity watches is complete without a Patek Philippe Nautilus. The favoured watch of the elite class, everyone from Ed Sheeran to Salt Bae has an edition and Tom Brady’s is perhaps the classiest. The rose gold chronograph was reportedly picked up by the NFL legend in 2017 and has remained in active rotation since then.

The 5980R, which is part of The GOAT Collection, is a perfect embodiment of the classic Nautilus design, right down to the signature octagonal case shape with rounded edges. This specific model is best characterised by its grouped chronograph indications, which appear within a large 6 o’clock mono-counter with three concentric scales. The central chronograph seconds hand can also be used as a running seconds display.

Inside, the Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph 5980 is powered by the brand’s in-house CH 28-520 C self-winding chronograph movement, which features a column-wheel design and a vertical clutch. As far as Tom Brady’s watches go, this Nautilus is by far his most elegant.

Sotheby’s The GOAT Collection Details

In addition to the stellar collection of watches that will go under the hammer, the Sotheby’s auction also offers a rare glimpse inside the multi-faceted world of Tom Brady. Revered personal items from the sporting legend’s illustrious career will be available to purchase, including some of the lesser-celebrated moments. The jersey Brady wore during his now-infamous 40-yard-dash at the 2000 NFL Combine is up for grabs, along with the final game-worn jersey from his college years at Michigan; and the championship-clinching quarterback wristband he wore during Super Bowl LI.

Sotheby’s The GOAT Collection: Watches & Treasures from Tom Brady will be auctioned in New York on December 10. Highlights from the collection will travel to Los Angeles, Miami and Dallas before returning to New York for The Luxury Sales exhibition.
