There are few things in life we love more than whisky, wine, and expensive sh!t. So when two of Australia’s top bars collaborate to create ‘Australia’s Most Expensive Cocktail’ it’s enough to raise a few pinky rings (and eyebrows) around the Man of Many office. Is it enough to bring 2 Chainz to the country in celebration of the occasion? Sadly not. However, it’s enough to bring some much-needed attention to our favourite whisky event of the year, Old Fashioned Week. An event that will be launching nationally from November 5th – 14th, 2022.
Available for purchase at $15,000, the ‘Woodford Reserve Gold Fashioned’ is Australia’s most expensive cocktail, and the world’s second most expensive, with the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo’s ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ Martini priced at nearly $30,000.

Australia’s Most Expensive Cocktail Ingredients
So why is Australia’s most expensive cocktail priced at $15,000? These are the ingredients.
- Woodford Reserve premium luxury XO Cognac finished Baccarat Edition (around $3000/ bottle).
- Gold-infused Chateau d’Yquem reduction (around $900, plus gold infusion).
- Handmade saffron and vanilla bitters.
- Specially-engraved ice.
- Served in a hand-cut French crystal Baccarat tumbler.
“We took some of the world’s finest ingredients, including a luxurious bourbon like Woodford Reserve and added touches of decadence, including handmade saffron and vanilla bitters and even a gold-infused Chateau d’Yquem reduction to create a cocktail experience that’s never been seen or done before,” said Stefano Filardi.
Does this combination of ingredients mean the cocktail is worth anywhere near the $15,000 asking price in ingredients alone? Well no, it’s not even close… but that doesn’t mean the experience is anything less extravagant and the leading bartender and venue manager at Sydney’s Dean and Nancy on 22, Stefano Filardi, says guests are ready to splurge big-time.
“After years of lockdowns and missing out, we’re finding that our guests are eager to splurge, particularly if it’s for an experience they can’t get anywhere else,” he said.
“We know the price tag is big, but we think every dollar is worth the ‘Woodford Gold Fashioned’. And for everyone else looking to enjoy a bit of luxury without the investment, we have a list of cocktails and exciting things on offer during Old Fashioned Week that won’t cost an arm and a leg.”
Will we see anyone take a sip of Australia’s Most Expensive cocktail during Old Fashioned week as it runs from November 5th – 14th, 2022? Probably not, but we’ll see plenty of Old Fashioned cocktails in front of our nose. The Woodford Reserve Gold Fashioned will be available to purchase at Dean & Nancy on 22 in Sydney and Sky Bar in Melbourne, for the duration of Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Week.
