Fancy some whisky education and tasting in the heart of Tasmania? Well, you’re in luck. Hobart’s getting a new whisky bar that’s set to open its doors to the public this coming spring and it comes from Aussie distillery royalty.
The Still is the latest whisky experience by local trailblazers, Lark Distillery Co. The venue will feature a collection of over 150 of its finest Tasmanian varieties to be enjoyed by the glass or bottle.
Operating out of the old Mercury Print Room on Argyle Street, visitors enter through a ‘Whisky Hall of Fame’. A retail and tasting section is set up at the front of the precinct, where patrons can enjoy the extensive wine, beer and cocktail list, curated by esteemed Hobart bartenders, Niall Maurici and Campbell Nicol. So even if you’re a whisky newbie, or simply want to enjoy a beverage, there’s plenty on offer.
Visitors will be treated to a sensory experience, surrounded by fragrant aromas created by an Australian perfumier, and the intimate whisky lounge at the rear. Here, you’ll find handmade local furniture made by Hobart designer, Scott Van Tuil.
“Whether you are newly curious or extremely passionate about the Tasmanian spirits community, this space will be the perfect jumping off point for your exploration into world-class, local whisky,” Dan Knight, Head of Hospitality at Lark Distillery says.
As Australia’s first carbon-neutral distillery, the multi-award-winning Lark Distillery Co hopes to shine a light on its unique varieties, allowing visitors to learn further about its local Tasmanian spirits.
So after you’ve explored MONA Museum and strolled along the cobblestone streets of Salamanca, do yourself a favour and drop by 30 Argyle Street for this drinking experience. We can’t wait to check it out.
