While many of us completely forgot the Winter Olympics was on, Viral Ventures is bringing the spirit of ice-cold competition to Sydney. The whacky minds behind The Alice, The Wizard’s Den & Karen’s Diner activations will set up shop at The Entertainment Quarter from March and provide a retro take on the classic winter sport of ice curling. The Sliders Curling Club claims to be the ultimate in winter fun, where friends, family or colleagues can celebrate life by hitting the curling lanes and slide their way to victory.

More commonly saved for the glacial rinks in Europe, the activity will bring players chills and thrills. And as the competition fires up, so will the appetite. Sliders Curling Club is serving up a custom winter cocktail menu with snacks and drinks to calm the nerves during battle. The game is here for only a short period of time, so make sure you book early to reserve your spot. A lane costs $99 per hour and can accommodate up to 8 guests.
Now you’re probably thinking, this sounds fun but how does the game actually work? Luckily, we have been given the details so you can gain an advantage over the field. Basically, the host will divide you into two teams to ignite the contest. Then, you’ll slide ‘stones’ towards circular scoring zones at the opposing end of the lane, similar to lawn bowls – the stones left closest to the centre target will be awarded the highest points. Teams will have to nominate two team members as ‘sweepers’ to help influence where the stones go.
Each booking will include a curling lane, the equipment, a host and your very own winter cabana to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Whether you’re on a date, celebrating a birthday or looking to impress your boss at a work event, Sliders Curling Club looks like the perfect venue to get amongst some light-hearted action.
