It’s no great surprise to see ‘Kim Kardashian’ and ‘private jet‘ in the same sentence, after all, the head of the Kardashian clan has made a career out of spending cash and living large, but her latest purchase is perhaps her most head-turning. According to TMZ, the billionaire reality star and model recently returned home to Los Angeles from Milan aboard a private jet worth approximately USD$95 million (AUD$130 million). But this wasn’t just your run of the mill luxury flying vehicle, the Gulfstream G65OER was reportedly customised to Kim K’s standards and strict specifications, bringing the estimated total closer to USD$150 million (AUD$207 million), however, that figure has not been confirmed. Either way, it’s one hell of a way to make an entrance.
While it’s easy to pin the latest purchase on a bit of retail therapy in the midst of a recent breakup with rap mogul Kanye West, by all accounts, Kim Kardashian’s private jet has been quite some time in the making. The 41-year-old reportedly waited over a year for the custom plane to be built, with the after-market additions significantly swelling the dwell time. Featuring the same unique Créme colour that adorns her fleet of vehicles and matching house, the new Gulfstream G65OER comes by way of designer Tommy Clements and Waldo Fernandez.
In a video posted to social media by friend and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, Kardashian showed off the stunning cabin space and design functionality of the new vehicle, and it is unsurprisingly luxe. The interior cabin features cashmere finishes and leather seats, and the cream-coloured motif is consistent throughout. In terms of the build itself, however, the Gulfstream G65OER is one of the most impressive private jets currently available on the market, just ask fellow owner Jeff Bezos.
The 18-seat aircraft is designed for high-speed business aviation, reaching a maximum mach speed of 0.925. In fact, according to Gulfstream, the G65OER currently holds the record for the farthest flight in business aviation history, when the ultralong-range performer flew 8,379 nautical miles back in April 2019.
“The G650ER has no equal when it comes to its incredible combination of speed and range,” Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Aerospace said at the time. “Worldwide, you just can’t go farther faster, and this record proves it. With 350 aircraft in service, the G650 and G650ER show day in and day out that they are class-creating and -leading aircraft that set the standard when they were announced and continue to do so today. Simply put, all others follow.”
With four living areas and a series of impressive technological features, Gulfstream claims the G650ER has the largest business-jet cabin on the market, offering wider seats, more aisle room and the ability to control the cabin entertainment, temperature and lighting with a smart device. As seen in the clip, Kim Kardashian’s private jet also cops large windows, quiet cabin functionality and the same reportedly low cabin altitude, an addition designed to improve comfort and reduce fatigue.
As far as private jets go, Kardashian has scooped a flagship release. The Gulfstream G650ER is a top of the line aircraft, complete with all the trimmings and creature comforts the social media star is renowned for, and while it didn’t come cheap, it’s a drop in the bucket for Kardashian. Back in 2020, the businesswoman sold a 20 per cent stake in her KKW Beauty to cosmetics giant Coty for AUD$276 million, before unveiling lingerie, bras, underwear and loungewear venture Skims in 2019. Considering her debut collection made over $2 million in a matter of minutes, her custom Gulfstream might not be the last private jet Kim Kardashian picks up.
