Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin

- Power Reserve: 54 hours
- Price: €57,200 (Limited to 88 pieces)
Girard-Perregaux’s partnership with Aston Martin has birthed some unique pieces over the past few years, but none more special than the latest Laureato Skeleton. An all-out showing of Girard-Perregaux’s remarkable watchmaking prowess, this collaborative timepiece echoes the same performance, precision, and intrigue that Formula 1 fans have come to know from the green livery automaker. Boasting a black ceramic case and sporting the historic British car maker’s iconic colourway, the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin is sleek, sharp and avant-garde by design.
The integrated bracelet, which has remained a staple of the Laureto lineup since its inception in 1975, is perhaps the timepiece’s most endearing feature. The sharp and slimming design sits ergonomically on the wrist and feels like a natural extension of the automotive/horological connection. Just as Formula 1 vehicles are designed as one cohesive structure, the Laureto appears as one solid piece.
At 42mm in diameter, Girard-Perregaux’s is far from small. However, the octagonal bezel does a remarkable job of lightening the load, making it appear slightly smaller. Personally, I am a big fan of the brushed finishes across the case and the dynamism of the polished finishes on the bezel. The central links of the bracelet provide a unique contrast despite the darker hue.
Inside, the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin is powered by a Calibre GP01800-2627 movement, one of the brand’s best-loved and most revered innovations. Best of all, it’s fully visible through the unique skeletonised dial, ensuring that the masterpiece never stays hidden. A serious piece of kit.

Mido Ocean Star 200C Gold PVD
- Brand: Mido
- Model: Ocean Star 200C Gold PVD
- Reference: Ref. M042.430.36.091.00
- Diameter: 42.50mm
- Thickness: 12.30mm
- Material: Stainless steel
- Movement: Calibre 80
- Power Reserve: 80 hours
- Price: AUD$1,950
Mido remains the industry’s most ambitious affordable producer and releases such as the Ocean Star 200C Gold PVD go a long way to proving why. A luxurious take on the classic model, this iteration cops (as the name might suggest) a gold PVD case, highlighted by a stunning, matte green dial. The combination of green and gold is far from new, but this Ocean Star feels innately premium and decidedly more upbeat when compared to some of the other, more subdued models in the collection.
The wave pattern relief on the dial plays tremendously well with the new colourway, providing a playful illusion of movement. Again, the 42.5mm case diameter is on the larger side and I’ve always thought the model could benefit from some slimming, but there is something to be said for a big and bold, gold-toned watch. Mido has also wisely opted for a mix of brushed and polished surfaces across the entirety of the timepiece, which gives the model some visual depth and added sophistication.
As with most Ocean Star models, you’ll find a unidirectional bezel front-and-centre, this time fitted with a green ceramic insert and aided by a 60-minute scale and a white Super-LumiNova dot at 12 o’clock. For Mido fans, the classic starfish emblem also features strongly on the solid screw-down caseback. Despite its bevy of practical features, one slightly perplexing move is to fit the dive watch on a leather strap, but that’s merely a personal note.

Bremont Supermarine 500M Polar White
- Brand: Bremont
- Model: Supermarine 500M Polar White
- Reference: SM43-DT-SS-WH-B
- Diameter: 43mm
- Thickness: 12.98mm
- Material: Stainless steel
- Movement: Calibre BB64AH
- Power Reserve: 56 hours
- Price: AUD$7,600
Since late 2023, Bremont has put significant time and effort into the Supermarine collection, and if you ask me, the move has been a revelation. The recent models, including the Supermarine 300M Henley Royal Regatta, have reminded us all of what the English watchmaker does best; robust dive watches that feel premium, approachable and ready for anything. The latest Supermarine 500M Polar White is a perfect example of that very ethos.
The new timepiece, with a 43mm brushed stainless steel case, is designed to tackle serious depths. The robust watch comes equipped with a helium escape valve, a screw-down caseback, and a crown protected by faceted crown guards, all elements that contribute to its remarkable 500 metre water resistance.
Replete with a white 3D wave pattern dial, its matte black ceramic bezel and funky retro-style bracelet, the new Supermarine 500M is a seriously cool piece that reminds us all of Bremont’s tool-watchmaking qualities. The Supermarine 500M is not a small watch by any degree, but its use of a black ceramic bezel and white dial masks its true size. Water resistance rating is nuts, a 904L steel bracelet is epic — what’s not to like?

Jaquet Droz Tourbillon Skelet Red Gold “Dragon Mask”
- Brand: Jaquet Droz
- Model: Tourbillon Skelet Red Gold “Dragon Mask”
- Reference: J0135230091
- Diameter: 41mm
- Thickness: 13.36mm
- Material: Red gold
- Movement: Calibre 2625 SQ
- Power Reserve: 8 days
- Price: CHF450,000 (Piece unique)
Rounding out this week’s releases is a piece of high-end watchmaking that feels almost too intricate to believe. The Jaquet Droz Tourbillon Skelet Red Gold “Dragon Mask” takes inspiration from the Chinese Dragon, a symbol of harmony, power and metamorphosis, and embodies the maison’s incredible level of detail and finishing. It features an openworked dial engraved and painted by hand; a process that reportedly took nearly a year to complete.
What’s more, the timepiece is carved from a solid block of gold, engraved on both sides, and then applied to a decorated background, allowing the mask on the dial to appear floating over the movement. The dial sits on top of a tourbillon, which in itself has an incredible 8-day power reserve. And, dotted throughout, are emeralds, just for good measure. Jaquet Droz is a brand that I absolutely adore, so it’s cool to see it still strutting its stuff in 2025.
