Released in a highly limited run of just 1,969 pieces across the Hand-Carry Case in Silver (AUD$3,450), Cabin Case in Silver (AUD$4,000), and Trunk in Silver (AUD$4,800), the RIMOWA Classic Grid collection is one of the most exclusive additions to the RIMOWA line-up in years.
The collection harks back to the archival hand-carry cases developed in 1969, which was an era defined by technical precision, modular thinking, and a strong relationship between form and function.
We find the embossed Grid design, pressed into Silver aluminium, a little too far a departure from the brand’s classic, instantly recognisable “Original” look. However, RIMOWA has carried over its signature strength and durability to the new design, which continues to be manufactured at RIMOWA’s historic Cologne factory. Classic RIMOWA Hardware and Performance
Sure, the Grid Collection has a retro aesthetic, but it doesn’t take a step backwards in terms of travel performance capabilities. The cases are fully equipped with the brand’s premium, signature hardware:

However, what truly sets the Classic Aluminium Grid apart from the standard lineup is the attention to archival detailing. Beyond the geometric exterior, the interior features a soft, quilted lining that visually echoes the exterior grid pattern. It’s a notch above our Cabin Original in terms of quality, and the contrast of cold silver aluminium with archival Blue hue leather touchpoints (pays direct homage to a historic RIMOWA shade) and Italian full-grain cowhide leather handles reminds us of Aimé Leon Dore’s RIMOWA collaboration.
Further distinguishing each piece is a complementary heritage blue leather luggage tag featuring an 1898 stamp that honours the brand’s founding year in Cologne, along with a bespoke badge indicating the case’s unique number out of the 1,969 produced.
