Like a Rolex Submariner, Porsche 911, or a pair of R.M. Williams boots, the RIMOWA Original suitcase has always lived by the “buy the best, buy it once” moniker, becoming a cult-like addition to any regular traveller’s arsenal in the process. However, as the brand has shifted into a new “Never Still” era, with a younger, more dynamic audience, it has opened the door for a little experimentation.

We’ve seen the German Maison play with new materials, brighter hues, collaborate with brands like Aimé Leon Dore, and even create a chess set, poker set, violin case, and other knick-knacks. The limits to which the brand is willing to push were rarely pressed before it was acquired by LVMH in 2017, but since then, it has launched a collection of bags for daily use that heralded an evolution into a cult mobility brand, “Never Still,” and an unconditional lifetime guarantee covering all suitcases purchased from July 25 2022.

Today, RIMOWA is adding a new Bronze hue to its “Original” line-up, building on the cult-status of the RIMOWA Original Cabin (AUD$2,185), the RIMOWA Original Check-In L (AUD$2,740) and the RIMOWA Original Trunk Plus (AUD$3,555). It will join Silver, Black, and Titanium in the line-up, and the hardest choice for you will be picking a favourite.

RIMOWA Bronze Key Specifications

Now available at RIMOWA stores and online at RIMOWA.com, the line-up and prices for the RIMOWA Bronze collection are as follows:

Made in Germany, the Bronze RIMOWAs are made from the same high-end anodised aluminium as the brand’s classic carry-on and check-in bags. Here, an advanced anodisation technique inscribes vibrant pigments directly onto the aluminium’s surface

Known for their robust construction, you’ll find TSA-approved locks that can be opened by any airline staff, a flex divider to keep packed items in order, a stage-free telescopic handle, and the RIMOWA Multiwheel System that guarantees stable and effortless steering thanks to ball-bearing mounted wheels with cushioned axles.

Even with such features, the bags remain surprisingly lightweight at 4.3 kg in the Original Cabin size. This leaves plenty of headroom for storing your essentials, and the size of 55 x 40 x 23 cm is perfect to fit in most aeroplanes’ overhead compartments.

With the release of the new collection, the brand has created a short video depicting a prestigious art auction. The bag is preciously handled like an ancient statue, while a slew of bidders raise their auction paddles, trying to outbid each other. As the auctioneer slams down the gavel, all eyes turn to the winning mystery bidder, who is a familiar face from the art world. Check it out for yourself here, and if you’re interested in more information about the collection, you can check it out in RIMOWA stores and online at RIMOWA.com, linked below.
