UNIQLO’s third collaboration with White Mountaineering is here. This time around, the brands have worked on a cozy outerwear collection comprised of three “Recycled Hybrid Down Jacket” colourways (Black, Wine, and Olive) available at flagship UNIQLO stores around Australia and online at uniqlo.com/au for AUD$129.90 right now. Sizes are genderless, ranging from XXS to XXL, and we recommend sticking to your true-to-size fit.

With the weather cooling down around the country, we could hardly think of a better time to launch these hybrid designs. The materials are considered, made from recycled down or recycled padding depending on the part, and large internal pockets mean they’re as practical as they are stylish.

If you’re on the hunt for that perfect outer layer for this transitional season, the Recycled Hybrid Down Jacket could be it, and we love the fact that this recycled material is also durable and water-repellent, allowing for wear in light rain.

UNIQLO X White Mountaineering Recycled Hybrid Down Jacket Key Specs

  • Hybrid design with recycled down or recycled padding, depending on the part
  • Three-dimensional cut for ease of movement
  • Durable water-repellent material allowing for wear in light rain
  • Fashionable gradient diamond quilt pattern design
  • Large capacity pockets

We love the versatility of the UNIQLO X White Mountaineering Recycled Hybrid Down Jacket. The layering capabilities are next-level, and as you can see from the model above, the ability to pair this with a cardigan, shirt jacket, and hooded sweater makes it the perfect choice for the transitional seasons. Add some chinos, corduroys, or technical parachute pants, and you have the perfect smart casual outfit.

The three-dimensional cut creates easy access to the large internal pockets, and the crop sits just above your pant pockets for ease of movement and access to your phone, keys, etc. Meanwhile, the diamond stitching on the exterior sets it apart from other brands with a sophisticated touch.

Of course, it’s important to know that it’s made from recycled materials, but we believe it’s just as important to know that the materials are of a high quality. Durable, water-repellent, it’s made for everyday activities.

Well-known in fashion circles, White Mountaineering has slid under the guise of the general public for years. The brainchild of Yosuke Aizawa, he started the brand in 2006 after graduating from Tama Art University with a degree in textile design. His collections are released at Paris Fashion Week every year, as they have since 2016, and his label remains a stalwart in Japanese outerwear. When he’s not saving his best designs for his label, he’s designing for a wide range of international brands.

UNIQLO brings their RE.UNIQLO expertise in this collaboration to strengthen its aim to create a recycling-oriented society. That means establishing RE.UNIQLO STUDIOS in stores worldwide with repair and remake services, or collecting clothes that customers no longer want and delivering them to people in need around the world, like refugee camps.

The Recycled Hybrid Down Jacket is an example of “clothing to clothing recycling” stemming from the RE.UNIQLO project. It’s available online below and in select flagship stores around Australia for AUD$129.90.
