Happy Senior-FriYay, and welcome to another iteration of Man of Many’s Staff Favourites! We love sharing our opinions about cool stuff we’re testing, trying out, or that have stood the test of time for us, and while we’d love to write up proper in-depth reviews for everything we touch, we’re a small team. We can only achieve so much.
So, each week, we like to share just a bit about things we’re digging this week in the hopes it’ll help some of you figure out something cool to try. This week, we’ve run marathons, eaten Stroganoff, worn NFL merch, and explored Pharloom. Here’s our Staff Favourites for this week.

Philter’s New Brews
Nick Hall – Editor-in-Chief
In Marrickville, beer is a way of life. The bustling suburb of Sydney’s inner west is home to a vast array of microbreweries and beer houses, each offering its own unique take on hoppy ales, crisp lagers, and heavy stouts. Chief among them is Philter, a modern label with an old-school, almost ’70s-style barroom vibe. I’ve always been a big fan of the brand’s aesthetic, not to mention the beers, and this week, I was treated to an assortment of new drops.
The XPA Lite is Philter’s latest half-strength release, which captures the same flavour of the classic XPA, just with less alcohol. Hop-forward and tropical, this one is the perfect Sunday session drinker, particularly as the weather starts to warm. Secondly, Australian Pale Ale is an easy-drinking beer that features a crisp, balanced bitterness and a classic malt backbone. Straightforward drinking for all year-round.

Oakley’s Radar EV Path Prism Polarised Sunglasses
Adam Mason – Sales Associate
I wore the Oakley Radar EV Path Prizm Black Polarised sunglasses in the Sydney Marathon recent and, no joke, I swear they made me run faster—shaving 11 minutes off last year’s time. The sun stopped annoying me, the world looked brighter and smoother, and suddenly I felt like a sponsored athlete (minus the sponsorship, of course).
The matte black frame made me look way cooler than I actually am, and the lightweight fit with grippy nose pads meant they didn’t budge once—even after hours on the road. They’re so comfortable I almost forgot I was wearing them, which is saying something after 42 kilometres. Now I can’t wait to see if they’ll shave strokes off my golf game or help me fly up hills on the bike.
If not, at least I’ll look good trying.

The Dinner Ladies
Alex Martinez – Media Sales and Brand Partnerships
Hypothetically, if I ever won a billion dollars, one of my first indulgences would be hiring a personal chef. Having someone take the stress out of planning and cooking would free up precious time, lighten the mental load, and guarantee a delicious meal every night.
In lieu of that fantasy, I’ve been using The Dinner Ladies recently, and honestly the benefits feel remarkably similar. For just $10–$30 per meal (serving two), we’re enjoying meals that are not only delicious (my personal favourite is the Slow Cooked Beef Stroganoff) but also majorly take the pressure off at the end of a busy day. With two kids, my wife and I often juggle a million things, and having dinner sorted has been a complete lifesaver.
I also can’t recommend their gift vouchers enough which I have sent and also received. They make a thoughtful, practical present for new parents, anyone going through a tough time, or simply as a unique gift idea leading into Christmas.

Hollow Knight Silksong
Dean Blake – Entertainment and Technology Writer
Okay, okay—if you’re someone who likes video games enough to hear about what other people who like games think about them, there’s a very good chance that your feed, or website of choice, has been filled with content about Silksong for the past week or so.
It’s a massive game made by a tiny team in Adelaide that literally broke Steam, the PlayStation store, the Xbox store, the Nintendo eShop, and the Humble store when it launched—because so many people were trying to get it the literal second it dropped that none of these massive companies’ back ends could handle the traffic. It’s an insane thing for a little game from South Australia to have achieved on its own, but the best part about this story is that while everyone waited about seven years for it to come out, Silksong was worth that wait.
Yes, some people have some qualms with difficulty, or the distribution of upgrades, but honestly it very much feels like a Master Quest-style second journey for the original Hollow Knight for me. That original game had a much smoother difficulty, and Silksong picks up at a much faster clip. I’m less than 10 hours into the game (curse you, full time job), but I anticipate this is one that’ll be feeding me for a while. Expect periodic updates as things change, or as new content drops.

All Things NFL
Marcus Hurley – Sales and Partnerships Manager
I was born in Australia. Grew up in Australia. Was surrounded by the amazing Australian sports culture. The one team I support (pathetically and fanatically)? The Seattle Seahawks. There is something about the NFL that just speaks to me. It is like watching multiple blockbuster films every Friday, Monday and Tuesday. Even the upcoming 3am fixture for the Seahawks doesn’t deter me. It has me hooked for life.
So when I walked into the office Monday morning, a Seahawks game playing through my ears, I was shocked to see a colleague of mine had strewn LA Rams paraphernalia across my desk (the Rams are what you could consider rivals of the Seahawks). But here’s the thing, the NFL gear just looks so good. The NFL has mastered the art of theatre and merchandise like no other. I may have actually donned the LA Rams cap a few times as the week has gone by, I just couldn’t help myself.
My house is smattered with NFL merchandise, from footballs, scarves, mini helmets, stuffed teddy bears, the list goes on. So if you are an NFL fan or are NFL-curious, I strongly suggest you get yourself to the NFL shop for all your NFL needs (just don’t support the Seahawks, it’s not good for your health).
