Man of Many’s Staff Favourites is back to brighten up your weekend, as we celebrate the products, services, entertainment, and experiences that have caught our eye over the week.

This week, we’ve got the perfect pair of versatile pants (and underrated item in any man’s capsule wardrobe, something new to stream, a surprising locally made whisky, a high-end restaurant that’s generating a lot of buzz, and just in time for Christmas buying season, a lip serum your significant other (or yourself) will love.

Before we get into the rest of the favourites, I’ve spent this week testing out the new Ultrahuman Ring Pro. Keep an eye out for a full review once I’ve had a chance to really run it through its paces, but I can already tell it’s going to be an ongoing part of my health routine as I look to lose a couple of post-holidays kilos. It’s now available to buy, explore the Ultrahuman Ring Pro.

Also this week, we dropped the final episode of season one of Daddies. It’s been a real pleasure bringing this podcast to you over the last 10 weeks. We’ve had some great guests on the show and had some fun, worthwhile conversations about life as a modern dad. If you haven’t listened yet, there are 10 episodes in the archive for you to make your way through.

You can subscribe to Daddies on Spotify (or wherever you get your podcasts). But enough from me, on to the Staff Favourites…

1. NN07 Kay 1420 Trousers

Frank Arthur – Co-Founder

Copenhagen-based NN07 (short for “No Nationality 2007”) is one of my go-to labels. Their design philosophy centres on stripping away the unnecessary and obsessing over the details that actually matter: fabric choice, fit, and build quality. Having owned a number of pieces from the brand over the years, I can vouch for just how well they hold up. They specialise in simple, unpretentious wardrobe staples, but elevate each one through premium materials and considered tailoring, landing in that elusive sweet spot between effortless daily wear and polished sophistication.

My latest addition to the rotation is the Kay 1420 Pant in Navy, and the cut is genuinely spot on. Crafted from a soft organic cotton with a subtle, lustrous satin finish, they deliver the structure and drape of a tailored trouser while feeling completely relaxed to wear. The front double pleats give the wider silhouette great movement, while the clean hook-and-bar closure keeps the waistband sharp whether you’re tucking in a basic white tee or layering over knitwear. They easily bridge the gap between casual chinos and dress pants, making them an instant weekly favourite.

Hang 10 distillery the goofy barrel release nº02 rye maple whisky 4

2. The Goofy Barrel from Hang 10 Distillery

Elliot Nash – Staff Writer

Sometimes, all it takes is a splash of water to completely change your opinion of a whisky. My fiancé and I cracked open a bottle of The Goofy Barrel Release Nº02, a rather unconventional Australian grain whisky coming out of Sydney’s Hang 10 Distillery on the Northern Beaches. We expected the full hit of that creamy, warming sweet maple syrup, rye and vanilla. Instead, something was missing from the mid-palate. Our diagnosis? A touch of water or an ice cube, and everything came to life.

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the hows and whys, let’s focus on the where and what Hang 10 is doing. Based in Warriewood, the distillery makes its whisky using surplus sourdough bread that might otherwise go to waste. For its second release of The Goofy Barrel, the team combined leftover bread with NSW malted barley, distilled the resulting spirit and aged it for three years in an American oak cask previously used for rye bourbon and maple syrup. Only 118 bottles were produced, each carrying a 46% ABV and a AUD $180 asking price for 500ml. Not bad for a limited release.

Served neat, the Nº02 was a little thin on the mid-palate, and my taste buds missed the creamy, warming character described in the tasting notes. With a splash of water or on the rocks, the maple sweetness, vanilla and rye spice revealed themselves. A considerably more enjoyable dram than the first sip, and a good reminder that there’s no shame in adding water to a whisky to open up the more complex flavours.

3. ‘Furious’, on Disney+

Scott Purcell – Co-Founder

Last weekend I told myself I’d watch one episode of Furious before bed with Jem as she said she saw some good reviews on Insta. Three episodes later it was well past midnight and I was hooked. There’s a reason this show has a 99% rating on rotten tomatoes.

On paper it’s a cat-and-mouse thriller. Emmy Rossum (a long way from Shameless here) plays FBI agent Alice Black, who’s hunting a calculating serial killer named Catherine, played by a properly unsettling Lola Petticrew. What sets it apart from your standard Sunday night crime show is that the killer is a woman, and the series leans hard into how easily she slips between faces and identities. You never quite feel like you’ve got a read on her, which is exactly the point.

It’s incredibly clever how it plays with themes of coercion, consent and justice. It’s also a show about anger, and what happens when you let it drive.

It’s created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the brains behind The Dropout, and is loosely adapted from the 1987 film Black Widow (perhaps I’m late to the game on that one, I’d never seen it). The writing is sharp, the pacing is relentless and the performances are top notch.

All eight episodes are streaming on Disney+ now. It’s rated MA, so it’s dark, violent and definitely not one for the kids, but if you fancy a crack at a crime drama that actually makes you think, clear your weekend.

4. L’Oréal Hyaluron Tint Lip Stain Serum

Hannah Maher – Sales & Partnerships Coordinator

I’ve been reaching for the L’Oréal Hyaluron Tint Lip Stain Serum in shade 635 non-stop lately. It gives your lips the perfect natural-looking tint without being too bold, and I love how easy it is to apply. It glides on smoothly, doesn’t go patchy and leaves such a nice wash of colour.

The real selling point for me is how well it lasts even after eating and drinking, the colour stays put without having to constantly touch it up. It’s one of those products that’s super easy to throw on before heading out the door and instantly makes you feel a little more put together. Definitely a new everyday staple, and Christmas is just around the corner…

5. Stanley restaurant, Manly

Harry Parsons – Head of Branded Content

This week, I have a two-hatted restaurant on Manly Wharf that needs to be on your radar. Stanley only opened about nine weeks ago and has already been awarded two hats by Good Food, which tells you everything you need to know. Set in a prime spot on the wharf, the room is premium and intimate, best known for its Peking duck on proud display in the kitchen as you walk in.

Whenever I test out a new venue, I go for the set menu to get a sense of the kitchen’s full offering. Chef Louis’ Signature Banquet was stunning from start to finish. The duck pancakes were fantastic, and the seafood selection was just as good. The oysters with finger lime, ginger and rice wine vinegar were perfectly balanced, with the vinegar never taking over the flavour of the oyster. But the clear standouts were the cumin-spiced lamb ribs, and the black bean beef and asparagus stir-fry. To wash it all down,Stanley has a substantial wine list to pair your meal with the perfect drop.

A restaurant this good sits firmly in the premium price category, so if you’re after a special night out with seriously good food, you can’t do better.
