John Wick fans will be pleased to know the former hitman declared “excommunicado” is receiving his own video game. John Wick Hex is described as a fast-paced, action-oriented strategy game that makes you think and strike like John Wick. It’s coming to consoles, PC and Mac. The debut trailer is featured above.
Created in close cooperation with the creative and stunt teams behind the films, John Wick Hex is fight-choreographed chess brought to life as a video game, capturing the series’ signature gun fu style while expanding its story universe. It’s probably not what you expected from a John Wick game, although the graphic noir art design does look impressive.
Every move is designed to feel like a scene from the movies, and every fight contributes to your progress on the job and requires precise strategic thinking. Ian McShane and Lance Reddick are also returning, lending their voice talents. Sadly, it appears Keanu Reeves is sitting this one out.
Good Shepherd Entertainment publishes John Wick Hex in partnership with Lionsgate. It’s directed by Mike Bithell, the designer and director behind the excellent indie titles Volume, Thomas Was Alone and Subsurface Circular.
There’s currently no release date for John Wick Hex. The good news is the third entry in the film series John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum lands in theatres worldwide May 17, 2019.
