Rapper T-Pain Just Revealed He’s Working on ‘GTA 6’ Development

For many, earning a ban from a game could be the worst thing. For T-Pain, however, this unfortunate turn of events has come with surprisingly good news. The singer, songwriter, and producer recently announced he’s working on the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, and while this may sound like a dream come true, it’s also meant his favourite leisure activity, which happens to be playing on GTA 5 roleplay servers, is now off-limits.

In a widely shared video on social media, T-Pain addressed a fan’s question during a live stream regarding his absence from the NoPixel server. He said, “How about this shit? I used to be on NoPixel, and then I started working on the f*@#ing, on GTA 6, and they (Rockstar Games) told me I couldn’t do RP any more because it kind of goes against… They had this whole speech, like, ‘What if somebody took your album and re-recorded it, and more people were listening to that?'”

T-Pain added, “Then I’m like, OK, I kind of get that, but I was having a good time! All right, that’s fine.” For those unfamiliar, GTA roleplay servers bring a unique twist to GTA Online, where players can roleplay in their chosen roles within the game’s world. Notably, roleplay servers like NoPixel are among the earliest and most widely embraced and are essentially mods of GTA Online that go against the platform’s terms of service. Up until recently, Rockstar Games said these were not allowed, but the company seems to be changing its stance.

Interestingly, Rockstar ended up recruiting the modding team responsible for role-play servers like FiveM and RedM. This development didn’t escape T-Pain’s notice, and he humorously remarked, “Then I started working on the game with them and then they teamed up with the people that make the RP shit, and I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, what? What the f*ck?…Y’all tell me I can’t do this shit and then you team up with the people that enable the RP?”

Rockstar remains tight-lipped on T-Pain’s potential involvement in GTA 6, leaving his remarks open to interpretation. While key details like the story and features remain under wraps, the game’s first trailer has exceeded expectations, teasing the two new protagonists and a stunningly detailed open world. With the highly anticipated release drawing closer, expect Rockstar to ramp up marketing and hopefully reveal more gameplay in the coming months.

GTA 6 is set to release sometime in 2025.
