SNK has released their Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro and it comes with 20 pre-loaded games. The miniature console that doubles as a controller features arcade-style controls with a joystick and eight buttons. Games can be played in either Joystick Mode or Console Mode—you can switch between the two via a physical switch on the side of the controller.
According to SNK, you can change the button configuration to match your play style or preferences. The console measures only 16 inches X 8.5 inches X 4.8 inches. The console also features all the ports you’ll need for connection, such as an HDMI port to connect it to your screen or monitor, a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio, two USB-C ports, and a USB-A port.
As for the games, the 20-game lineup is heavily slanted toward classic brawlers. You’ll find the best known SNK fighting games including six The King of Fighters games from 1995 through 2002. There are also four Samurai Showdown titles, (II through V Special), and three Fatal Fury games (Special, 3, and Garou: Mark of the Wolves).
For those keeping track, that’s a baker’s dozen of games. You also get three World Heroes (2, 2 Jet, and Perfect), Art of Fighting, Ninja Master’s, The Last Blade 2, and Kizuna Encounter. Unfortunately, fans of other classics like Metal Slug won’t be getting their favourites in this console.
No specifics about pricing and release date for the Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro have been announced, but SNK has said that the console will be available worldwide. The mini-console joins the ranks of other mini-consoles that have been released, like Capcom’s Home Arcade and Sega’s Genesis Mini.
