Arnold Schwarzenegger Takes a Low Blow in Netflix’s ‘Fubar’ Trailer

Say hasta la vista to plummeting stock prices because Arnold Schwarzenegger is heading to Netflix. The Austrian Oak just couldn’t resist flexing his acting muscles again, but this time, he’s trading in the silver screen for the small one. That’s right, the Governator himself is making his television debut in the upcoming action-comedy series titled Fubar, and we’re already feeling pumped up just thinking about it.

As the teaser shows, Fubar will be a high-octane spy comedy, with plenty of explosions, car chases, and hand-to-hand combat. The show will follow a CIA operative on the verge of retirement who is forced to take on one last mission when he uncovers a family secret. Along the way, he’ll cross paths with a host of eccentric characters, including Monica Barbaro, Jay Baruchel, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, and Milan Carter.

Schwarzenegger himself is clearly excited about the project, telling Variety, “Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well, here it is! Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh — and not just for two hours. You get a whole season.”

And it seems that Fubar’s creator, Nick Santora, shares Schwarzenegger’s enthusiasm. Santora has previously worked on hit shows like The Sopranos and Prison Break, and he’s clearly relishing the opportunity to work with one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars.

“The thing I always marvelled at was how Schwarzenegger could be funny while still kicking ass,” Santora said. “That’s why I wanted Fubar to be a hysterical, CIA-spy comedy mixed with heart-stopping action! And it is all that—and more.”

Of course, fans of Schwarzenegger will be thrilled to see him back in action, but it’s worth noting that the star has been pretty selective about his on-screen roles in recent years. He took a break from acting during his time as the governor of California, and since returning to Hollywood, he’s only appeared in a handful of films.

So, what made him decide to take on a TV role? Well, it seems that the script for Fubar was simply too good to pass up.

“The script is fantastic, the characters are hilarious, and the action is non-stop,” Schwarzenegger said. “I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this show, and I can’t wait for audiences to see it.”

And with the show set to debut on May 25, audiences won’t have to wait too long to see Schwarzenegger back in action. So get ready to laugh, get ready to cry, and get ready for some contrived one-liners from the vascular movie veteran.
