We all remember how it started. And while the real world may not let you break bad at the drop of a hat quite like it was done in Albuquerque, New Mexico, come January, with two of television’s finest meth cooks touring Australia, we’re expecting to learn all about the empire business and the secrets behind the scenes of Breaking Bad.

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, better known as Walter “Heisenberg” White and Jesse Pinkman, are heading Down Under together for a live conversation about the TV series that had everyone hooked.

An Evening with Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul will bring the pair to Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney in January 2027 before finishing in Auckland. Presented by Fane Australia, the 110-minute show will dig into the making of Breaking Bad: long days on set with Vince Gilligan, scenes that made them laugh, ones that broke them, and a friendship that stuck around long after the meth lab closed.

What to Expect From An Evening with Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul

Bryan Cranston showed everyone he wasn’t just the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. And Aaron Paul proved he could do more than appear in an ad for Vanilla Coke. This was never going to be your average press tour.

Cranston told The Sydney Morning Herald that he and Paul are putting together an entertaining night built around personal stories, clips and “a couple of crazy things” to send people home thinking, “oh man, that was fantastic”.

The pair will also talk about the writing and production behind Breaking Bad, the mistakes, the danger (I’m not the only one who said it in Heisenberg’s voice, am I?) and what the series gave to each of them. Across 62 episodes and five seasons, Breaking Bad picked up 16 Primetime Emmy Awards from 58 nominations, so I’m sure they’ve got plenty to talk about, from the highs of Ozymandias to the controversial lows of the Fly episode.

But the audience won’t be kept within the confines of their Albuquerque territory for the entire event. Cranston and Paul have lives beyond Breaking Bad, and they’ll also share what advice they have for younger performers hoping to build careers of their own. But, really, it’s about the friendship they built along both journeys: Walter White, from a cancer-stricken chemistry teacher to one of the most fearsome crime lords we’ve seen on television; and Jesse Pinkman, from small-time drug dealer and reluctant partner to the free man we see crashing through the gates of Jack Welker’s compound.

Just don’t expect them to add one more thing and announce a Breaking Bad revival. There won’t be a “where are they now” follow-up episode, not even a Christmas special (thank God). Cranston told the SMH that if creator Vince Gilligan pitched something like that, he’d tell him to “lie down”. Paul, despite receiving an epilogue in the form of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, said the original series ended “perfectly” and shouldn’t be messed with.

So a few extra behind-the-scenes details won’t hurt, will they?

Sorry, kids, this one is recommended for ages 18 and over. Each show starts at 7:30 pm and runs 110 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission. Way past their bedtime anyway. Walter White might have been the one who knocks, but in January, Cranston and Paul are the ones coming to our door.
