What’s Next for the MCU? Every Upcoming Phase 6 Movie and TV Show Release Date

With Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe set to wrap up in 2028 with Avengers: Secret Wars, fans are already looking to what lies beyond the horizon. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed the MCU will undergo a ‘soft reboot’ following the film, lowering the barrier to entry for incoming audiences.

Here are the 7 major releases coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the next three years, as well as an outline of the rebooted universe’s first three major films.

What’s Coming Next to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

1. VisionQuest

Release Date: 14 October, 2026
Cast: Paul Bettany, James Spader, Diane Morgan, Emily Hampshire, Ruaridh Mollica

Marvel’s Scarlet-Witch-and-Vision-focused series have always had a more psychological and philosophical bend than the mainline MCU fare, and VisionQuest looks to continue that trend.

VisionQuest follows on from WandaVision, where Wanda Maximoff created a magic-backed facsimile of her late husband Vision, while S.W.O.R.D. rebuilt his physical body. The miniseries concluded with both Visions merging into a single entity – the subject of this new series.

VisionQuest will explore Vision’s complex origin, spanning Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. AI, Ultron, and the Mind Stone. Balancing two psyches in one vessel gives the character plenty of internal strife to overcome. Expect internal conflicts – including a face-to-face meeting with Ultron – alongside external stakes, such as his once-imaginary sons, Billy and Tommy, proving to be very real.

2. Avengers: Doomsday

Release Date: 18 December, 2026
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Chris Evans, Patrick Stewart, Alan Cumming, Ian McKellen, James Marsden

Details remain scarce for Avengers: Doomsday, beyond uniting the MCU against Victor von Doom – played by a familiar-looking Robert Downey Jr. In the few drip-fed trailers released so far, we’ve gotten a hint at the direction the next major MCU-crossover is taking, and it’s looking pretty grim.

Following Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has largely focused on multiverse shenanigans, with multiple films or series focusing on maintaining dimensional balance and preparing for a foreseen dimensional incursion. Following Phase Four and Five’s multiverse buildup, Doomsday marks the long-awaited payoff. While Doom’s exact motivations remain under wraps, his plan will involve Reed Richards and Sue Storm’s son, Franklin, following the setup in Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Doom may actually be attempting to unite multiverse resources against a larger threat set for Secret Wars. Regardless, an evil variant of Tony Stark poses the deadliest threat the MCU has seen yet.

3. Daredevil: Born Again, Season 3

Release Date: March, 2027
Cast: Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll

Arriving between Doomsday and Secret Wars, Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 continues Marvel’s street-level crossover event, reuniting characters from Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. As we covered in our guide to the MCU’s entire chronology, this show in particular acts as its own major crossover event, bringing together the disparate threads of numerous smaller TV series – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage included – and brings them into a single story.

Star Charlie Cox teased to Entertainment Weekly that the new season feels like ‘a new thing,’ shifting away from Matt Murdock’s ongoing rivalry with Wilson Fisk. Showrunner Dario Scardapane added that Season 3 explores the fallout of Fisk fully embracing his Kingpin identity alongside Murdock stepping into Daredevil full-time.

4. Avengers: Secret Wars

Release Date: December, 2027
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn

Closing out Phase Six, Secret Wars will effectively serve as a soft reboot for the MCU. In the comics, Secret Wars pits heroes and villains from across the multiverse against one another. Expect the movie to merge alternate timelines into a single, cohesive MCU moving forward.

A clean slate allows Marvel to onboard new audiences without requiring years of back-catalogue viewing, while setting up long-rumoured passes like Miles Morales taking up the Spider-Man mantle. It also marks the likely swansong for original staples like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Chris Evans’ Captain America.

5. X-Men

Release Date: May 5, 2028
Cast: Sadie Sink, Christopher Abbott, Inde Navarrette, Maya Boyd, Samara Weaving, Kit Connor, Adam Driver

Following Sadie Sink’s debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel officially confirmed an X-Men reboot is on the horizon.

While Doomsday will feature members of the original series, such as Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, this new take on the series will be led by an all-new cast – presumably taking the series back to the early days of the X-Men to fit with a newly revitalised universe. Sink will return as Jean Grey, alongside a new roster featuring Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Christopher Abbott as Professor X. Instead of Magneto, the team will face Mr. Sinister, played by Adam Driver.

With Kevin Feige hinting at a lengthy runway for the mutants, this reboot marks the start of a major long-term pillar for the post-reboot MCU.

6. Black Panther III

Release Date: December 15, 2028
Cast: David Jonsson, Denzel Washington, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke

One of Marvel’s biggest cinematic franchises is finally returning for its long awaited threequel: Slated for December 2028, Black Panther III stars Alien: Romulus breakout David Jonsson as T’Challa II (Toussaint), the son of the late King T’Challa.

Ryan Coogler returns to direct, with Denzel Washington joining the cast in an undisclosed role. While plot details are under wraps, Jonsson noted he is keeping tight-lipped, saying, “I want to let the screen do the talking”.

7. Ghost Rider

Release Date: 2028
Cast: Ryan Gosling

Director Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling are teaming up for Ghost Rider, with Gosling playing stunt rider turned spirit of vengeance Johnny Blaze. The project reunites Levy, Gosling, and writer Jonathan Tropper following their work on Star Wars: Starfighter.
