When you’re looking to renew a contract, you’re hoping that you can get it to happen early. It’s a sure sign that you’re wanted, and it puts you in a position of power. That’s what has happened for Atlanta, which was renewed by FX for its fourth season. That means that both the previously announced season three (announced in June 2018) and season four will go into production right away, each with eight episodes.
Donald Glover helms the cast of the comedy/drama, alongside Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Glover’s cousin in the series. The cast is rounded out by Lakeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz. The series, which is produced by Glover as well as Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle, Stephen Glover, and Hiro Murai, follows the cousins as they try to break into Atlanta’s music scene.
With two Golend Globes and five Primetime Emmies, the accolades keep coming for the show, including some pretty kind words from FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier: “What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul, Dianne, Stephen, and Hiro have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television. This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners.”
With an early renewal for another season under their belt, the crew behind Atlanta is sitting in a prime position, but you can rest assured that they won’t be sitting on their laurels. They didn’t get to where they are without putting in the dues and coming up with a show that merits all the accolades. That’s good news for fans of the show, who have at least two more seasons to look forward to.
