When HBO sensation Succession finally shut up shop earlier this year, it left a gaping hole in the world’s entertainment schedule. For four captivating seasons, the iconic drama series followed the exploits of the Roy family media dynasty, an ultra-wealthy inner circle that teetered on a knife’s edge. Back-stabbing, family squabbles and a crumbling empire sat at the heart of Succession, culminating in a series finale that proved to be a defining moment in television. Now, just months after the series officially concluded, Heritage Auctions is offering fans a piece of that history.
The Dallas-based auctioneer has just unveiled the Succession lot, a collection of 236 authentic props and items used throughout the series. The sprawling catalogue spans fashion pieces and accessories favourited by production designer Stephen Carter and costume designer Michelle Matland, representing all members of the Roy family and business, from patriarch Logan Roy to style icon Tom Wambsgans.
Since Succession premiered in 2018, Matland’s unique visual approach to ultra-wealth has been one of the key contributors to the series’ cult-like following. The lack of branding and refined monochromatic colour palette utilised for effervescent characters such as Kendall Roy differed greatly from previous on-screen representations of billionaires, even birthing a revival of ‘Quiet Luxury’. With Heritage’s Succession auction, a number of those iconic costumes are up for grabs.
Among the pieces on offer, you’ll find Jeremy Strong’s Lanvin suit and Saint Laurent dress shirt, Brain Cox’s Brooks Brothers coat, Kieran Culkin’s Suit Supply outfit and even cousin Greg’s infamous Doderick costume. However, the auction doesn’t simply stop at clothing. Heritage Auctions is also offering up the lavish bar set from Logan Roy’s Waystar Royco office, Kendall’s Zippo, Cousin Greg’s flip phone and even the stunt foam can of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce that Logan uses to smack his grandson in the head.
Heritage Auctions’ Succession lot is currently listed on the official website, with bidding open until January 13.
