What is ‘Succession’?

Created by the mastermind behind Veep, Jesse Armstrong, Succession has been a fan favourite since its debut in 2018. The show, which explores themes of power and family dynamics, has been a hit with audiences and critics alike, racking up a whopping 48 Emmy nominations and 13 wins, including Outstanding Drama Series for the second and third seasons.

The show follows the lives of the Roy family, led by patriarch Logan Roy (played by the incredible Brian Cox) and his four grown children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor (Alan Ruck). In Season 4, the family is faced with the prospect of the sale of their media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård). This sale is causing quite a stir between the mogul and his kids, with a power struggle between the family set to reach new hilarious heights.

‘Succession’ Season 4 Trailer

HBO has dropped the official trailer for Succession Season 4, teasing the ongoing chaos surrounding the Roy family. After witnessing one of the biggest TV betrayals at the end of season 3, the next chapter promises more twists and turns as the children attempt to overthrow their tyrannical father.

In the trailer, the “rebel alliance”, a.k.a the “new gen Roys”, team up as Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) attempt to take down their father, who has effectively screwed them out of Waystar Royco. The trailer also highlights the fallout of Tom’s betrayal at the end of season 3, asking Shiv, “Do you want to talk about what happened?”

Alternatively, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) seems unphased by his decision, relishing the thought of the upcoming battle. “I’m a hundred feet tall. These people are pygmies,” he says in the teaser, which premiered Sunday night ahead of the House of the Dragon Season 1 finale.

Where is ‘Succession’ Filmed?

Known for shooting in some of the most majestic locations in the world, Variety reported earlier this month that the Roys will take a trip to Matsson’s hometown in Norway, with producer Scott Ferguson confirming production took place across several sites in western Norway, including the Ramsdalen Gondola, the Atlantic Ocean Road and the Juvet Landscape Hotel.

“Norway is a glorious, natural setting. It immediately seemed like a perfect place for a family gathering in the series,” Ferguson told the publication on location in Norway. “We studied different countries, but we realized Norway just has this exceptional landscape — like nowhere else in the world.”
