Netflix is set to make a big impact in 2023 with a few heavy hitters in its pipeline. With the streaming service set to revive some older characters and franchises, alongside introducing a host of new stories, the 2023 Netflix release schedule is absolutely stacked.
Luther: The Fallen Sun
One of the most highly anticipated releases is Luther: The Fallen Sun, which will see Idris Elba reprise his iconic role as the gritty detective John Luther. The new movie promises to take the drama to new heights, building on the success of the previous seasons of the award-winning show.
According to the official synopsis, Luther: The Fallen Sun will act as a continuation of the television saga, seeing a gruesome serial killer terrorise London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther sits behind bars. The troubled crime-fighter is haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, but not for long. In classic Luther style, he decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary. The film also stars Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and Dermot Crowley, who returns as Martin Schenk.

Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy and Julia Louis-Dreyfus – enough said. Three of the most iconic comedy legends of all time are joining forces for a new flick from Kenya Barris that appears like a true wrong-place-right-time scenario. When a rideshare mix-up in Los Angeles brings Ezra Cohen (Jonah Hill) and Amira Mohammed (Lauren London) together, the two find themselves connecting over a shared love of streetwear and music.
The two falls in love but their relationship is tested by their respective families: Ezra’s progressive and semi-woke parents (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny) and Amira’s unyielding yet concerned parents (Eddie Murphy and Nia Long) who inject themselves into their lives mercilessly. With an all-star ensemble cast including Murphy, Hill, Louis-Dreyfus, Duchovny, Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage and Mike Epps, You People is certain to be a big release for Netflix.
