The Suits of Kingsman – ‘The Golden Circle’

If you’re not as excited about the upcoming second instalment of The Kingsman film franchise then you haven’t seen the first. You should probably get onto that. The 2014 original film titled Kingsman: The Secret Service, was everything we didn’t think it would be. Fantastical sets, impossible storylines, unpredictable action scenes and stunts that made a Bond film look like an episode of Antiques Roadshow all combined to make our favourite film for that year. Somehow.
The other thing that caught our collective eyes was the attention to detail in the wardrobe department.
The plotline saw us follow young Englishman Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, as he is trained to become a Kingsman, a super-secret society of high-tech spies operating out of a London tailor’s shopfront. Under the bespoke-suited wing of Harry, played by Colin Firth, an affable and dapper gentleman with an unassuming ability to leave a squad of enemies FUBAR with nothing but a souped-up umbrella and a witty remark, Eggsy faces the same trials and tribulations as any teenager training to save the world would.
On the back of the success of the first film, online men’s style destination Mr Porter launched a ‘costume to collection’ range, allowing fans to deck themselves out in fresh kit just as Harry and Eggsy do in the film. Mr Porter have jumped right back on board to partner with the sequel as well, give men the opportunity to dress like not only a Kingsman once more, but also as a Statesman; the British agency’s American counterparts, who hail from Kentucky.

A badass take on the classic smoking jacket – this look sees our protagonist decked out in burnt orange that screams seventies steeze, whilst maintaining a modern tailored cut. The jacket’s hue brings life to the outfit while the rest of the ensemble remains restrained and traditional. The whole set calls for a cocktail and a miniaturised canape on a stick.
