Who doesn’t love a comeback story? Especially from the old-timers.
Colin Trevorrow ain’t no Steven Spielberg, but he may be a magician. He’s somehow found a way to bring back the original cast of Jurassic Park for his 2021 film Jurassic World 3. Speaking at a Hollywood screening late last month, Trevorrow revealed the exciting news saying Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum will all have sizeable roles in the upcoming sequel.
Released in 1993, the original Jurassic Park was an industry-changing piece of cinematography. At that time CGI was still considered a novelty, but Spielberg proved it was there to stay. After seeing test-shots of Jurassic Park’s dinosaurs, Spielberg’s friend and colleague George Lucas compared it to “one of those moments in history, like the invention of the light bulb or the first telephone call”.
The visual effects continued to improve exponentially over the following years, but the Jurassic Park sequels floundered to a point of near extinction. Dern, Neill, and Goldblum have subsequently remained absent since the franchise rebooted in 2015, so it’s exciting to see them involved again.
Plot details for Jurassic World 3 are a mystery, but Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are confirmed to be reprising their roles.
Jurassic World 3 opens June 11, 2021.
