The technical fashion trend hit like a tidal wave in 2020, and Salomon embraced its new urban audience by diving back into the archives, reintroducing a slew of outdoor silhouettes for new fans. Fast forward a few years and the ‘XT’ lineup has become a staple for sneakerheads. You can’t miss a pair of XT-6 on the street, and the XT-4 has become a favourite with the tie-die colourway as a mood board must-have.
Originally released in 2013, the XT-6 is the standout sneaker in the Salomon Sportstyle footwear range. We’ve seen collaborations with the likes of KITH, Madhappy, and the launch of a GORE-TEX model towards the end of 2022. Today, the brand is diving back into the archives to re-release some of its biggest hits 10 years later.
What: Salomon XT-6 RECUT Collection
Where: Salomon.com.au Highs & Lows, Up There Store
When: 26th of January, 2023
Retelling the story of the XT-6, a range of original colourways have been pulled from the archives. Top of our list is the Monument, Phantom, Vanilla colourway with classic Salomon strikes of silver and black alongside monochrome highlights. Contrasting creams and vanilla hues are found on the EVA cushioned midsole, a technical aspect that protects your foot and ensures a soft landing whether you’re hopping over rocks or jumping down a flight of steps on your way to the train.
All colourways receive the same lightweight, streamlined construction, with a mix of resistant TPU film and mesh designed to last. Our personal pair of XT-6s required a week of breaking in on the trails, however, the downhill chassis and lug geometry offers more stability in the long run. The GORE-TEX pair has become our favourite wet-weather shoe.
The XT-6 RECUT collection brings back some of Salomon’s all-time favourite colourways to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the shoe. Shop the full collection from January 26th, 2023, via the link below.
