Mission to the super blue moonphase feature 3

OMEGA x Swatch MoonSwatch ‘Mission to the Super Blue MoonPhase’ Revealed

Just in time for the full blue moon on August 19th, 2024, OMEGA and Swatch have released their latest and greatest MoonSwatch, and there are a handful of key changes to the Mission to the Moonphase model. Previously a homage to the brand’s relationship with Snoopy, the ‘Mission to the Super Blue MoonPhase’ removes Snoopy from the subdial and adds a multi-shade blue moon phase with UV ink to the dark celestial background. You’ll also notice a blue pulsometer scale with white markers now found on the Bioceramic bezel. This is unique to the Mission to the Super Blue MoonPhase and is unavailable on other models.

The watch will be released every day from the 1st to the 19th of August in Australia (and at select Swatch boutiques worldwide) from 5 pm onward (“blue hours”). It’s priced at AUD$500, the same as other Mission to the Moonphase models, which demand a AUD$65 premium over the basic MoonSwatch.

The MoonSwatch ‘Mission to the Super Blue MoonPhase’ ticks all the boxes regarding watch trends, surely making it the most desirable release to date. It has blue ‘panda’ subdials, a moon phase indicator, and a unique blue pulsometer scale that replaces the tachymeter seen on all other models. Fans of the model will also appreciate its relationship with the ‘Mission to Neptune’ MoonSwatch, which brings a similar blue hue.

It retains all other MoonSwatch features, including the quartz chronograph movement with moon phase indicator, 42mm case diameter, 3 bar (30 metres) of water resistance, and bio-sourced material on the glass.

If this is your first time seeing a pulsometer scale on a watch, this measuring device was originally used by doctors and nurses to measure a person’s heart rate. To use the pulsometer, stop the chronograph hand after 30 beats, and the dial will show your heart rate per minute. Again, this replaces the tachymeter and is unique to the Mission to the Super Blue MoonPhase.

If you want to get your hands on the MoonSwatch ‘Mission to the Super Blue MoonPhase’ ref. SO33N700, the watch will be available from August 1st to August 19th (the date of the full moon) at selected Swatch stores and pop-up stores globally. Australians can only purchase the watch in Sydney at the Swatch Boutique in Pitt Street Mall and Melbourne at the Swatch Boutique on Collins Street.
