Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale
Once upon a time, the Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale served the French Navy. Fast forward half a century and that iconic model, reference 5774, is reintroduced to the modern landscape. It still carries with it the tell-tale signs of a functional, useful and wonderfully nostalgic watch but with subtle touches of modernity throughout. I particularly like the blued steel hands which contrast well with the creamy dial. Longines is hitting all the right notes at the moment, and the Heritage Military Marine Nationale is no exception to that.

Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon
Horology meets art with the new Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon. Crafted with onyx, red gold, yellow gold and a new mineral named “Spiderman” jasper, the Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon is a wonderfully elaborate, supremely ornate timepiece. The use of the “Spiderman” jasper mineral enhances the look of the Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon, with plenty of browns and shades of ocher and burgundy adorning the dial throughout. Jaquet Droz is perhaps one of the best watchmakers in the business that can marry the worlds of high horology with art in the way that it does, and the Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon further exemplifies that.

Ulysse Nardin BLAST
Ulysse Nardin has introduced a new line of watches named BLAST, the latest collection of skeletonised tourbillon timepieces from the brand. Within its open-worked structure lies an automatic silicium tourbillon sitting in an X-shaped cage. Each piece will have the tell-tale signs of a typical skeleton tourbillon from Ulysse Nardin: a rectangular frame, the 3-horned lug system, a smooth bezel and a vertically oriented movement (with the barrel at 12 o’clock and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock). The BLAST is an audacious and eye-watering conspicuous attempt at forgoing tradition that just seems to work on so many levels. Fantastic stuff from Ulysse Nardin!
