When the Olympic Games take place in Paris next year, the world’s premier athletes will gather with a single goal in mind – to go for gold. In anticipation of this sporting spectacle, OMEGA has dropped a new limited edition Seamaster 300M model and in a nod to the ultimate Olympic prize, this latest piece from the Swiss watchmaker makes gold central to the design. The watch is launched exactly a year before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and is only available in OMEGA’s Paris boutiques. If ever there was an excuse to visit the City of Lights, this sporting tribute is it.
As long-term official Olympic Timekeepers, OMEGA has regularly offered watch enthusiasts commemorative models and this latest watch nails the necessary balance between functionality and elegance. In many ways, this new iteration of the legendary Seamaster is faithful to the watch we’ve grown to love.
The overall style is instantly recognizable and the functional dive watch elements are all there. As we’d expect, it has 300M of water resistance, a screw-down crown and a distinctive Helium Valve at 10 o’clock. Of course, it’s the stunning gold additions and subtle Olympic references that set this limited edition piece apart from previous models. The 42mm stainless steel case features a bezel insert forged from the brand’s own 18K Moonshine Gold.
Arguably the watch’s distinguishing feature, the bezel has a frosted finish and a single luminous dot at 12 o’clock. This gold bezel is paired with gold versions of the Seamaster’s signature skeleton hands and the central second hand boasts a unique Paris 2024 emblem.
The white ceramic dial is stunning and sports a matte finish and waves in a positive relief – they’re raised from the dial. There’s also another reference that’s not as conspicuous as the second hand – the date window. It’s a subtle touch and not obvious at first glance. The text in the date window uses the Paris 2024 typography.
Rounding out the Olympic references is an eye-catching case back that includes an inlaid 18K Moonshine Gold medallion displaying the event’s emblem. Below sits the ‘Paris 2024’ wording and the must-have Olympic rings. And don’t worry that the case back might not sit perfectly horizontal. It features OMEGA’s own Naiad locking system that ensures it will always line up correctly.
This latest member of the Seamaster family is powered by OMEGA’s Calibre 8800 movement and comes equipped with a stainless steel quick-release bracelet. Paris 24-themed Nato straps are an optional extra, and like the watch, are only available at Parisian boutiques.
