Watch enthusiasts love collaborations and there’s nothing better than when a prestigious brand debuts new features. So when Swiss watchmaker Tudor began its long-term partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing in 2022, we waited with bated breath for the new dive watches. This was the first time that Tudor had paired up with a yacht racing team and it wasn’t obvious what the result would be. Well, here are the two latest additions to the Tudor stable, a pair of watches inspired by the construction of a cutting-edge racing yacht. The Tudor Pelagos FXD & Pelagos FXD Chrono build on the success of a watch originally created for the French Navy and also debut a number of Tudor firsts.

Tudor is keen to point out the similarities between the two daring brands and that desire for innovation has been worked into the design of these new Pelagos FXD models. This watch was built for the combat divers of the Marine Nationale so it was a great choice for crew members on a racing yacht.
The Alinghi Red Bull Racing AC75 boat- America’s Cup 75 – is a beast. And that’s what Tudor has recreated here. Both of the new watches feature a case construction never used before by the brand. The AC75 yacht is constructed from a mixture of carbon, titanium and stainless steel and Tudor has mimicked that on the two new models.
For the first time ever, Tudor has forged the case and bezel insert from a high-tech carbon composite. The bezel and crown are titanium and the caseback is the more traditional steel. The result is two robust and lightweight watches that embody the spirit of the hydrofoil racing yacht. With that in mind, the bezels are bi-directional and display uncommon ‘countdown’ numbering.
The dials are handsome and feature maritime blue colouring with a matte finish and a reassuringly familiar styling. The signature Tudor Pelagos features are all here – the ubiquitous snowflake hands and square hour markers – but there are also some distinctive touches. The blue dial and white markers are combined with red accents to mirror the colourway of the boat. The branding is lowkey with the only wording being a chapter ring that subtly displays ‘Alinghi Red Bull Racing’.
The time-only watch is powered by Tudor’s Manufacture Calibre MT5602 and the Chronograph – the first-ever Tudor Chrono with fixed strap bars – has the reliable MT5813 movement. Both watches have 200M of water resistance and practical one-piece canvas straps.
