Top 16 in the world, baby! Say what you will about the Qatar World Cup, but it’s definitely delivering on all fronts and so are we. After another solid week in the Man of Many offices, we’re greasing ourselves up and slip n’ sliding into the weekend at a downright dangerous pace. Maccas summer meny

Macca’s Summer Menu

Nick Hall – Editor-in-Chief

Let’s be honest, there’s literally no one on earth who doesn’t love a good McDonald’s feed. From the humble Big Mac to the quintessential cheeseburger, it’s hard to go wrong with the Golden Arches, which is why I was cautiously excited by the new summer menu. This season marks the return of the El Maco and the Cheesy Jalapeño Pops, but there are two big additions – the Cajun Chicken Deluxe and the McFlurry with Cadbury Caramilk Hokey Pokey. The new flavour combinations will be available across Macca’s restaurants nationwide and via McDelivery from 30 November, for a limited time only. I’ve tried a few of the meals already and as the season of weekend hangovers approaches, I’ll probably make my way through the lot.

Gingle bells finger lime gin

Gingle Bells Finger Lime Gin

John Guanzon – Head of Social

Imagine how popular you’d be, rocking up to your family Christmas party with Australia’s most expensive bottle of gin. Gin-trepreneur Lee Etherington has created the most premium bottle of gin in the country the Gingle Bells Finger Lime Gin, featuring 100% Hawkesbury grown finger lime caviar, javelina oranges, kaffir lime leaves, Tahitian lime leaf and lemons – perfect for a summer G&T out on the porch after changing into your stretchy pants, post-Christmas lunch.

The distinctly Australian concoction took Etherington and Wild Hibiscus Distilling Co. four years and $1.6 million in research to master, so you’ll be sure to sip on some meticulously crafted and expertly blended gin this Christmas. Best of all, the finger lime pearls make the bottle look just like a snow dome when you give it a gentle shake. As well as the classic finger lime gin, there’s also a Deep Dark Red Finger Lime bottle, with an explosion of flavours for your senses, giving bursts of hibiscus, ginger and Hawkesbury-grown citrus. Best served with your favourite tonic or ginger beer. I wouldn’t even blame you opted to not bring the bottle along to your Christmas do and just save it for your own personal Christmas treat!

Lavazza desea

Lavazza Deséa Espresso and Cappuccino Coffee Machine

Rob Edwards – Branded Content Writer

While I love a good coffee as much as the next person, for far too long I settled for the instant stuff when drinking it at home. Having recently added a Lavazza Deséa coffee machine to my kitchen setup, I now look back on all those mornings spent spooning freeze-dried coffee out of a jar and wince. This little beauty has massively improved not only the quality but also the variety of my caffeine intake, offering five milk-based recipes and four different coffee sizes, all of which can be made with next to no effort.

To be honest, I feel bad for the lovely staff at my local cafe. They’re going to have to re-examine their bottom line, because now when I want a proper coffee all I need to do is slip a capsule in the top of this machine – Lavazza offers a delicious range of these, varying in intensity and flavour – enter my preference via the easy-to-navigate button interface and voila. Adding delicious frothy milk is straightforward too, as the machine comes with its own handy milk whipping jug.

Not only does Lavazza’s Deséa machine make great coffee, it’s a stylish little number too. So much so that I felt obliged to complete the picture by acquiring a set of six vintage ‘80s Italian-made Lavazza coffee cups to match.

Shosai 2

SHOSAI

Sam Mangioni – Journalist – Entertainment & Culture

Earlier this year, I sat down with Rugby superstar Quade Cooper to discuss his new streetwear label Shosai. At the time, I’d only seen images of the collection and was impressed. However, my new best friend recently sent me a couple of pieces to get the full tactile experience, and to say it’s been well received is an understatement. My girlfriend has already stolen the cuffed joggers because “they look better on her”, and I won’t be surprised if the t-shirt mysteriously finds its way into her wardrobe. In retaliation, I’ve taken her favourite summer dress and plan on parading it around the house all weekend. It’s actually quite flattering…

Filorga Cosmetics

Richie Hall – Video Producer

Filorga is a French skincare brand that has been transforming medi-cosmetics since 1978 and is rapidly growing in popularity in Australia – and for good reason. I have recently heard glowing reviews and was keen to try it myself. They have an extensive range of products from exfoliators, to cleansers, to masks and eye creams but I kept things simple and targeted their best-selling moisturiser (Time-Filler Absolute Wrinkles Correction Cream) and their best-selling serum (Hydra-Hyal Intensive Hydrating Plumping Concentrate). After a couple of weeks, I’ve noticed my skin appears fresher, clearer and less tired. I’ll be continuing this routine and I’m interested to try more products in the range, especially the Eye Contour Cream.
