Sydney, get ready to step up your brick game! The LEGO Group, in collaboration with Alquemie Group, has unveiled plans to open the world’s largest LEGO store right in the heart of the city. It’s not just any store; it’s a 900sqm, two-storey LEGO wonderland located at the iconic Sydney Arcade, offering panoramic views of the bustling Pitt Street Mall.

LEGO stores have already made their mark in global hotspots like New York, London, and Dubai. But this Sydney addition? It’s set to be the crown jewel. Troy Taylor, Vice President and General Manager of LEGO Australia and New Zealand expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re really looking forward to opening the LEGO Sydney CBD store as the world’s biggest LEGO store.” And it’s not just about size; the store promises an immersive experience, complete with playful nods to Aussie culture that will resonate with locals and tourists alike.
For us, the standout feature of this landmark store is its large-format brick-built designs inspired by local architecture.
“Supporting the LEGO Group’s mission to inspire and develop builders of tomorrow, the immersive new store will feature creative play experiences, with playful nods to Australian culture, that are sure to create lasting memories for every Aussie or visitor from around the world.”
Think ‘Stories of Australia’ but in LEGO form, merging the essence of Sydney and Australian culture. And for the first time in Australia, the store will house a LEGO Minifigure Factory, allowing fans to personalise their very own LEGO Minifigure.
Richard Facioni, executive chairman of Alquemie Group, shared the excitement, noting that the store would “capitalise on the enduring appeal of the LEGO brand and bring a world-class retail concept to Australia.” He added, “This globally unique store will offer an immersive LEGO experience for local and international brick fans.”
“It will have something for LEGO fans of all ages and will definitely put Sydney on the LEGO world map!”
But that’s not all. The store will also feature:
- Storytelling Table: Dive deep into the LEGO design process with interactive areas showcasing interviews and videos.
- Personalisation Studio: Create a unique memento by customising your own LEGO Minifigure.
- Pick and Build Wall: A signature brick experience where you can handpick LEGO elements for your personalised builds.
- Hands-on Play: Engage with a LEGO play wall and participate in monthly in-store LEGO challenges and events.
- Brick Specialists: Need help finding the perfect set? These experts have got you covered.
And for those wondering about the mastermind behind the large format 3D LEGO models in the store, it’s none other than Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught. As one of only 21 LEGO Certified Professionals globally and the sole representative in the Southern Hemisphere, his craftsmanship promises to be a sight to behold.
While the grand opening date remains under wraps, it’s expected to be announced soon. So, brick enthusiasts, mark your calendars and prepare for a world-class LEGO experience that’s set to put Sydney firmly on the LEGO world map. We just hope it lasts longer than Sega World did in Darling Harbour.
