Despite the digital nature of our modern world, it seems the power of the handwritten word remains undiminished when it comes to romance. More specifically, if you don’t keep your pen-wielding skills up to scratch, well, many a potential romantic partner might just see that as a glaring red flag.

According to a new nationwide survey conducted on behalf of Parker Pens, not only do over three-quarters (76 per cent) of Australians prefer to maintain a connection with pen and paper (via a range of everyday tasks like note-taking, creating to-do lists, and doodling), but nearly a third (31 per cent) of Australian respondents have said they will judge your viability as a potential romantic partner if you reveal yourself to have poor handwriting.

Fortunately, Parker Pens is ready and waiting to help your handwriting shine when it matters most with its timelessly elegant Sonnet Collection featuring two new additions from its Grey Core Range, the perfect tool for proving that your penmanship is up to scratch.

Hung Up on Handwriting

What does your handwriting say about you? It’s a question worth considering, as the survey of over 1,000 Australian adults revealed that nearly half (45 per cent) of Millennials and 40 per cent of Gen Z believe that a potential partner’s handwriting reveals significant insights into their personality.

With that in mind, it logically follows that almost a third (31 per cent) of Australians admit to judging potential partners based on their handwriting, with Gen Z the most likely to do so at 43 per cent.

Moving beyond our love lives to the more broadly personal and professional, it seems taking a lax approach to handwriting might stand between you and your next promotion or even see you fall behind in social circles. The survey found that almost two in five (39 per cent) Gen Z respondents feel their handwriting has impacted them negatively in their personal or professional lives, while just over a third (35 per cent) of Millennials indicated they feel the same.

The Epitome of Elegance

Fortunately, it’s never too late to give your handwriting abilities a bit of polish, and like anything, handwriting is a skill that can be significantly improved when you have the right tools at your disposal. Parker Pens has been delivering precisely those tools since George S. Parker first established the business in 1888.

Now, the brand’s Sonnet Collection welcomes the introduction of two stunning new writing implements: the Sonnet Grey Lacquer Gold Trim Fountain Pen and Sonnet Grey Lacquer Gold Trim Ballpoint Pen. Both embody the very height of precision paired with effortless sophistication and—like the Sonnet Collection as a whole—they offer a beautiful writing experience thanks to the refined and hand-crafted nature of their construction.

With their intricate detailing and gold PVD coating of the clip and brass trims, these pens will elevate your handwriting on any occasion (much to the delight of your significant other), whether you’re penning gift cards for family and friends or simply preparing a shopping list.
