The 2018 Audi SQ5 is a lot like the 2017 model only better. For starters, there’s now an S in front of the Q5 branding. Special, significant, sexy – it could represent any if not all of these adjectives but it stands for Sports as this new model SUV is built with additional power and a sports package.
This compact SUV is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine packing 354 horsepower that goes from 0 to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, the sports package adds a torque-vectoring rear differential for improved cornering, and the new suspension features adjustments for ride height and firmness depending on the Audi drive select modes – comfort, dynamic, individual and auto. There are also more elevated all road and off-road suspension settings to allow for even more ground clearance. The car itself weighs around 35kg less than previous models.
Inside, the SQ5 is fitted with tougher seats, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are complimented by a Bang & Olufsen sound system that come standard. The cabin experience can be further personalised by the Virtual Cockpit LCD panel, adaptive cruise control and additional driving assist settings.
The 2018 Audi SQ5 was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show back in January and is set to hit the road in Autumn of this year.
