Oasis are back, the Gallagher brothers are getting along (for now), and thanks to the release of Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, we’re all talking about Britain‘s most famous feuding siblings again.

The documentary, which follows the band’s monumental 2025 reunion tour, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September before landing on Disney+ Australia on 9 October. And while the film offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of music’s biggest comebacks, there’s something else that’s caught our attention: Liam Gallagher’s sunglasses.

Specifically, the oversized, amber-tinted aviators he wore while posing alongside his brother Noel at the film’s premiere in London.

Safe to say Liam has never been a stranger to a good pair of high-end sunglasses. From his tiny, Lennon-inspired frames during the Britpop years to the designer eyewear he’s favoured more recently, the Oasis frontman is rarely seen without a cool pair of shades on.

But his latest pair might be one of our favourites yet, with their oversized gold-toned frames, warm brown lenses and unmistakable ’70s rock-star look.

So, what sunglasses was Liam Gallagher wearing at the premiere, and where can you find something similar?

What Sunglasses Did Liam Gallagher Wear to the Oasis Doco Premiere?

At the premiere of Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, Liam wore a pair of oversized, vintage-inspired aviator sunglasses, paired with a black hooded jacket and his signature cropped haircut.

The frames are a little different from the classic teardrop aviators he’s commonly sported throughout the decades. They’re wider and slightly more squared off, with warm amber-brown lenses that give off a distinctly retro feel.

As for the exact brand and model, we can’t say for certain. The design, however, does look very similar to vintage Porsche Design by Carrera aviators, particularly the oversized metal styles popular during the 1970s and 1980s (although we wouldn’t go so far as to claim that’s what he’s wearing).

What we can say is that the shape and lens colour are doing a lot of the style work here, and fortunately, there are plenty of ways to recreate the look without tracking down a pair of vintage designer sunglasses.

The Best Sunglasses to Recreate Liam Gallagher’s Look

You don’t need the exact sunglasses Liam wore to get the look. In fact, we’d argue that finding a pair with the right shape, frame colour and lens tint is more important than matching the label.

Here are some styles we love and think are worth considering, depending on your budget and how closely you want to recreate his premiere outfit.

Carrera 333:s 2m2 black sunglasses
Carrera 333/S Sunglasses | $230

1. Carrera 333/S Sunglasses

If you like the oversized shape of Liam’s sunglasses but aren’t quite sold on the lighter frames, Carrera’s 333/S offers a darker alternative. The black finish gives them a slightly bolder feel, while still capturing that retro rock-star aesthetic.

Ksubi montana sunglasses
Ksubi Montana Sunglasses | $250

2. Ksubi Montana Sunglasses

Australian streetwear label Ksubi knows a thing or two about rock-inspired fashion, so it’s not surprising that its Montana sunglasses would look right at home in Liam Gallagher’s wardrobe. The gold-toned frames and amber lenses lean into the ’70s aesthetic, making them a great pick if you’re after something with a little vintage character.

Soda shades shade 002
Soda Shades Shade 002 | $189

3. Soda Shades Shade 002

Not everyone wants to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of sunglasses, particularly when you’re experimenting with a style you might not normally wear. If you’re curious about the oversized look but aren’t ready to commit to designer eyewear, Soda Shades’ Shade 002 is an affordable place to start.

Gucci double g aviator sunglasses
Gucci Double G Aviator Sunglasses | $780

4. Gucci Double G Aviator Sunglasses

If you’re going to take style inspiration from one of Britain’s biggest rock stars, you might as well consider a little Italian luxury while you’re at it. Gucci’s Double G aviators bring a more polished feel to the retro look, with brown tones and signature designer detailing that make them a true statement piece.

Bottega veneta classic aviator sunglasses
Bottega Veneta Classic Aviator Sunglasses | $675

5. Bottega Veneta Classic Aviator Sunglasses

Of all the sunglasses on this list, Bottega Veneta’s Classic Aviators are one of the closest to Liam’s premiere look when it comes to colour. The silver-toned metal frames and brown lenses strike that same balance between cool and warm, with the glasses offering an overall relatively minimalist design.

Dita lancier sunglasses
DITA LSA-419 Sunglasses | $420

6. DITA LSA-419 Sunglasses

DITA is an American luxury eyewear brand known for its Japanese craftsmanship, and at $420, these are actually one of the more reasonably priced designer options on our list. The LSA-419 features a lightweight titanium frame and a classic aviator-inspired shape, making it a good choice if you’re after something that captures Liam’s retro aesthetic without going overboard.

Akoni skyracer
Akoni Skyracer Sunglasses | $1,540

7. Akoni Skyracer Sunglasses

At over $1,500, Akoni’s Skyracer sunglasses are the biggest investment on our list, but there’s quite a bit of craftsmanship behind that price tag. Founded in Switzerland in 2020 and manufactured in Japan, Akoni specialises in precision-engineered luxury eyewear, and the Skyracer combines Japanese titanium, intricate metal detailing and a distinctive double-rim design for a futuristic take on the classic aviator.

Rayban 3699
Ray-Ban RB3699 Sunglasses | $257

8. Ray-Ban RB3699 Sunglasses

If you’re after something inspired by Liam’s sunglasses that you can realistically wear every day, Ray-Ban’s RB3699 is a good middle ground. The slim metal construction and retro shape capture some of the same appeal, but without the exaggerated proportions that can make oversized aviators a little harder to pull off for the everyday man.

How to Recreate Liam Gallagher’s Sunglasses Look

We’ve done the hard work for you and found some similar-looking shades above, but if you’re keen to do your own hunting and recreate the Liam Gallagher sunglasses look yourself, here are some style tips to remember.

1. Go Big on the Frames

The first thing you’ll notice about Liam’s sunglasses is their size; they’re oversized, extending across a huge chunk of his face, with a shape that’s between a traditional aviator and a squared navigator.

While traditional aviators generally feature rounded, teardrop-shaped lenses, navigator-style sunglasses have a squarer, more structured shape.

For this look, we’d lean towards the latter. You want something oversized without being so wide that the frames sit awkwardly on your face. Ideally, the top of the sunglasses should sit comfortably around your brow line, with the lenses extending down towards your cheekbones.

2. Look for Subtle Silver Detailing

Unlike the chunky gold aviators often associated with the ’70s, Liam’s sunglasses have a much more understated frame. The rims are so subtle they look almost transparent, while the silver arms add a cool, metallic finish.

To recreate the look, shop around for oversized aviators with thin silver or gunmetal detailing, clear or barely-there rims and a double bridge.

3. Choose Amber or Brown Gradient Lenses

Arguably the most important detail is the lens colour. The sunnies feature a warm amber-brown tint, with a slightly lighter appearance towards the bottom of the lenses.

It’s a much softer look than conventional black or dark-grey sunglasses, allowing some of his eyes to remain visible while adding to that retro aesthetic.

Amber, brown and tobacco-coloured lenses will all give you that rockstar look, particularly in a gradient finish.

4. Keep the Rest of Your Outfit Simple

Look, Liam Gallagher can get away with wearing oversized aviators, a parka, a bucket hat and a tracksuit because, well, he’s Liam Gallagher.

For everyone else, it’s probably a good idea to keep things simple with your outfit. The good news is that the sunglasses are enough of a statement on their own.

Try pairing them with a plain white T-shirt, straight-leg jeans and a lightweight jacket.  And if you really want to embrace the Gallagher aesthetic, a black parka certainly wouldn’t hurt (bucket hat optional, if you think you can pull it off).

Liam Gallagher’s Always Had a Thing for Sunglasses

Of course, Liam’s latest aviators are hardly the first pair of sunglasses to attract attention.

During Oasis’ Britpop heyday, he became synonymous with small, round metal frames and coloured lenses, a look heavily influenced by the style of John Lennon and the British mod movement.

He’s also experimented with everything from retro sports sunglasses to bold designer frames, including vintage Versace and Porsche Design styles.

And while plenty of celebrities cycle through whatever eyewear happens to be fashionable that season, Gallagher has always stuck fairly closely to his own aesthetic. His sunglasses tend to be retro, occasionally a little outrageous and rarely understated.

There are plenty of things about Liam Gallagher that the average guy probably shouldn’t try to recreate. His famously confrontational interview style, for one. His relationship with his brother, for another. But his sunglasses? Fair game. And the best part is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on designer eyewear to achieve something similar.

Will you look exactly like Liam Gallagher? Probably not. But you might just look a little more like a rock star.

FAQs

What’s the difference between aviator and navigator sunglasses?

The main difference is the shape. Traditional aviator sunglasses have rounded, teardrop-shaped lenses, while navigator sunglasses feature squarer, more angular frames. Both typically have thin metal frames and a double bridge, but navigators offer a slightly more structured, retro appearance.

What face shape suits aviator sunglasses?

Aviator sunglasses can look great on most face shapes, although the best fit depends on the size and proportions of the frames. Classic rounded aviators can help soften angular or square faces, while squarer navigator styles can add definition to rounder faces.

Are tinted sunglasses still in style?

You betcha! Brown, amber, yellow and other coloured lenses are super on-trend right now, particularly in retro-inspired eyewear (just remember that lens colour alone doesn’t indicate UV protection).
