Blancpain x Swatch Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms ‘Green Abyss’ Has Arrived

Blancpain and Swatch have released the latest addition to their Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection called ‘Green Abyss’ (AUD$655). It will be available from June 7th, 2025, at selected Swatch stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Chermside, and Perth, and will be limited to one per person, per store, per day.

The 42.3mm diameter SISTEM51 automatic-powered follow-up to the game-changing OMEGA x Swatch ‘MoonSwatch’, the Swatch Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms has always sat in the shadows of the Speedmaster takedown. However, this new ‘Green Abyss’ colourway looks to revitalise the line-up with a deep green Bioceramic case, bezel, and crown, complemented by a black with a dark green hue and deep black resin bezel insert. What gets us excited is the dive-centric Super-LumiNova elements on the hands, hour markers, and 60-minute markers that glow in a vintage radium tone.

Like models that came before it, the ‘Green Abyss’ Blancpain x Swatch Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms features a full-colour digital illustration of the Felimare picta (Regal Sea Goddess) nudibranch (soft-bodied marine gastropod molluscs) with its seaweed colours.

Where the original Swatch Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms featured a date window, the brand deleted it on select models such as the sought-after ‘Antarctic Ocean’ reference. They chose to swap out the date for a bi-colour water contact indicator at 6 o’clock (detects moisture), again with the ‘Green Abyss’ model here to reference vintage MIL-SPEC diving watches.

They’ve also chosen to swap out the single-pass NATO strap for a two-piece fabric strap they’re calling “NATO Style.” This carries over from the Pink Ocean and Blue Lagoon releases and is a point of difference to the ‘Antarctic Ocean’ model, in which it shares many of the same features. Ultimately, while it’s hardly a “NATO,” the two-piece fabric strap does make it more wearable and easier to put on your wrist.

Besides these two small changes, everything else stays true to models of the past. The Blancpain x Swatch Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms ‘Green Abyss’ is still powered by a Swatch SISTEM51 automatic movement with 90 hours of power reserve, and this is encased in Bioceramic with a water resistance down to 50 fathoms / 91 m / 300 ft / 9 bar and a Bioceramic crystal.

Flip the watch over and you’ll get a good look at this movement and the full-colour digital illustration of the Felimare picta nudibranch, which is a soft-bodied marine gastropod mollusc. The Latin name translates to “Regal Sea Goddess,” which is much cooler if you ask me.
