Staff Favourites – 5 Things We Loved This Week (September 5, 2026)

Man of Many’s Staff Favourites is back to brighten up your weekend, as we highlight the products, services, entertainment, and experiences that have caught our eye over the week.

We get to try so much of the cool, novel, curious and exclusive on a daily basis, but these encounters don’t always result in full write-ups or reviews. So we collect them here in the hope you’ll find something new and exciting to give your week a lift.

This week, we’ve got the perfect last-minute Father’s Day gift, a poignant novel, a fun game to play with mates a travel trimmer that will actually fit in your toiletry bag, and a great option for your Saturday night.

1. Sheridan Aven Bathrobe – A Father’s Day Special

I’m officially entering my bathrobe era, and just in time for Father’s Day. The good folks at Sheridan sent this one to the Man of Many office a few weeks ago, and I (very graciously) gave it to my husband, because that’s just the kind of nice guy I am. He’s worn it every day since, and it’s made me so jealous I’m going to pick one up for myself.

His is a striped clove number (pictured above), so I’m going with olive green. Both options come embroidered with “Dad” on the front (perfect for a house with two dads), but Sheridan also offers a matching his & hers range if that’s what you’re after.

2. Splatoon Raiders

As an avid Nintendo lover, I was a little late to the Splatoon wave. But in reality, what’s not to love? You play as a squid-human hybrid shooting ink in a hypercolour turf war. Sign me up.

But Splatoon Raiders, the first spin-off in the franchise, really sold me. Splatoon is a great game that’s perfect to play with mates or the family, but as a SINK, it’s hard to call upon people at the last minute to play a round with. Raiders solves that problem: it can be played single player, and mixes the explosive, cartoony action (a la Fortnite) with puzzles and strategy.

It’s a completely unserious game, which makes it a great way to unwind and check out of a rough day at work. The best part is that just because it has single player capabilities, it still works great with other players (for when your kids or your mates finally want a round).

3. ‘I Want You To Be Happy’, by Jem Calder

This week I’ve finally finished Jem Calder’s ‘I Want You to be Happy’. A poignant novel about contemporary relationships. Written with equal parts sensitivity and violent clarity, it doesn’t hold back its punches when it discusses love, desire and loneliness. In a landscape of digital and personal self-optimisation, it acutely identifies the contemporary struggle of dating in the 21st Century.

Explored through an age gap relationship, Joey sees love and affection in the most minute detail, while Chuck, lacking self-worth, self-sabotages his career, dreams and relationships. 

It’s excruciating, cringey, grounded in reality and illustrates the search for connection in modern times. Missing the mark maybe, but trying.

4. Manscaped Lawn Mower Go – The Travel Trimmer That Finally Fits in the Toiletry Bag

Every time I pack for a trip, the trimmer is the first thing to lose the argument with the toiletry bag. The bigger Manscaped Beard Trimmer is brilliant at home, but they are chunky and the 4.0 wants to bring its charging dock along, so more often than not it stays behind and I deal with the consequences by about day four. When Manscaped sent through the new Lawn Mower Go, the first thing I did was see whether it fit. It does, easily.

It’s the smallest Lawn Mower I’ve used and I’d assumed it would be the cheap and cheerful one. It isn’t. It’s sturdier and more premium than an entry-level trimmer has any right to be, and it’s fully waterproof, so it can live in the shower without any drama.

The guards have been the surprise. There are two adjustable combs, 3-5mm and 7-9mm, and I’ve been using the longer one on my beard, which isn’t what it was built for but it does the job. Chuck in the LED spotlight for the bits you can’t see, USB-C charging and up to an hour on a charge, and it’s become the one I reach for even when I’m not going anywhere.

If you travel a bit, this is the one to buy.

5. Pizza Hut Unboxed – Where I’ll Be This Saturday

If you’re still figuring out what you’re doing this Saturday night, allow me to make the decision slightly easier for you: I’ll be at Pizza Hut Waterloo eating free pizza and watching Hayden James play a live set.

Not exactly the Saturday night I had pictured when I woke up this week, but I’m certainly not complaining.

Pizza Hut Unboxed is taking over Pizza Hut Waterloo this Saturday, 5 September, as part of the brand’s huge national relaunch. From 6pm, the restaurant will be transformed into one very large party, complete with a live set from Hayden James, free pizza, free drinks and the chance to score an exclusive meet-and-greet with the man himself.

And, importantly, it’s completely free.

The whole thing is part of Pizza Hut’s nationwide Unboxed celebration, with 75 restaurants revealing their refreshed look simultaneously across Australia. So while the rest of the country is busy pretending they have better Saturday night plans, I’ll be in Waterloo with a slice in one hand and a drink in the other. Where’s the downside?

I’m heading along and I’d love to see some Man of Many readers there too. Entry is first in, best dressed, so don’t spend three hours deciding what to wear – it’s Pizza Hut, Hayden James and free food. You’ll survive.
