Over the weekend, thousands of tourists and locals alike flocked to Darlinghurst for Sydney’s 42nd annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras festival. With the world-famous procession of over 200 floats celebrating all things camp and queer, the 2020 Mardi Gras festival is a fabulous night filled with colour, people and a whole lotta glitter.
It comes as no surprise then that each year the Mardi Gras festival proves itself as a favourite for photographers. Gone are the days of lumbering through the crowds with a big bag of camera gear. These days anyone can take incredible pictures with just their iPhone, capturing more spontaneous and intimate moments.
This year, we’ve highlighted fifteen of the best photos from Sydney-based photographers Giuseppe Santamaria, Paula Broom and Kanesan Nathan who attended the parade on Saturday night. Each of the photos were taken on the iPhone 11 Pro and offer some great examples of the best ways to use some of the iPhone’s unique photography features like Ultrawide and Portrait Mode.
