Littered with subtle nuances to the iconic J.K. Rowling young-adult novel series, the new LEGO Harry Potter set is a homage to literary magic. Housed within the kit are recognisable characters from the film and book series, including Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Professor Minerva McGonagle and Rubeus Hagrid. The centrepiece of the set, however, is hard to miss. Harry’s owl companion and mail delivery service, Hedwig takes pride of place in the Harry Potter LEGO set. Better yet, the lovable ally appears to be holding a customisable Hogwarts Acceptance Letter in its talons.
If you peer a little closer, you can also spy a few more subtle features. A personalised Hogwarts scarf lets you rep the house of your choice with colours representing Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepluff or Ravenclaw. Also included are a pair of Harry’s trademark glasses, alongside a wand, which allows you to live out your best wizarding fantasies. Throw in a copy of Tom Riddle’s diary, and a non-edible and non-jumping chocolate frog with its respective wizard card, and you’ve got a love letter to J.K. Rowling’s classic series.

To complete the full Hogwarts experience, LEGO has included some potions to go along with the potion books, tray and five classic concoctions fans will recognise as the Polyjuice Potion, Felix Fellicis, Powdered Root of Sphodel, Gillyweed and Wormwood Infusion. The 3,000 piece Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors Edition is expected to be available on September 2 and will be sold online at LEGO and in flagship stores nationwide for USD$249.99.
