Man of Many’s Staff Favourites – 25 March 2023

It’s been a big week for the Man of Many team. Aside from driving Volkswagen’s ridiculous new T-Roc R Grid Edition and unearthing a jet-setting over to New Zealand for SailGP, we somehow managed to squeeze in a team bonding trip to the New South Wales coast (tough job, we know). After two days of eating, drinking and absolutely sucking at golf, we’re back in the hot seat eager to dish more of the good stuff. Let’s kick things off with Man of Many’s Staff Favourites for this week.

No Name Vinyl Recordings

Nick Hall – Editor-in-Chief

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved vinyl records. There is something so simple and pure about the crackling of the needle against the pressing that immediately gets my attention. While platforms like Spotify and Apple Music have made it easier than ever to gain access to your favourite tunes, the experience of listening to the vinyl brings a sense of tangibility back to the art form. If you go to the effort of slipping a record out of its case, placing it on the player and getting the revolutions up, you’re probably more inclined to actually sit and gestate on the music coming out of it.

This week, I found myself with one foot in both worlds. I stumbled across No Name Vinyl Recordings, a YouTube channel with less than 1,000 subscribers that simply plays classic vinyl song-by-song in pure, unadulterated high-fidelity. Watching that record spin is hypnotic and I’ve really noticed all the subtle nuances of the original recording are far more prominent, even through a YouTube clip. I’ve been smashing Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer on repeat for a week now and I still can’t believe how good the audio production is. If you’re into classic ’70s and ’80s vinyl, but don’t have a record player, this is definitely a great alternative to streaming. And before anyone asks, yes, I am fully aware of the irony of listening to vinyl through a digital system. What can I say? It still works for me.

Ferrari Roma in Forrest Green

Scott Purcell – Co-Founder

This weekend I’m driving to Mudgee for a weekend away with the Ferrari Roma. After trying out the old Ferrari F8 Spider which was practically a race car, the Roma is it’s more relaxed, luxurious cousin. Built as a touring car, it’s got all the finishes and specs you’d expect from a $400k+ vehicle. A noticeable change from the previous models is an upgrade in the technology and controls. No longer a manual physical button to start it’s now a touch panel. Same with the mirrors and general controls which make it a much more fluid experience to drive. Will let you know how it goes next week after a full weekend of driving.

Mophie UNV Snap+ Juice Mini 5K Portable Power Bank

John Guanzon – Head of Social

As you would expect for someone who works in social media, my phone battery is almost without fail in the red by midday. Let’s be real, endlessly scrolling the Tok in the morning and checking Instagram feeds is some serious business, so I’m always looking for convenient ways to keep my phone well-juiced. This week, I’ve been using the Mophie UNV Snap+ Juice Mini 5K Portable Power Bank, a nifty little magnetic wireless charger that effortlessly just snaps onto the back of my iPhone and gives it a power boost. The 5,000mAh internal battery is enough to charge a phone a least once and is compatible with MagSafe-enabled iPhone models (12 and above) and other Qi-enabled smartphones from Apple, Samsung, and Google.

The little device uses a series of magnets that align with the MagSafe charger and starts charging automatically – no need to deal with any annoying cables tethering your phone to separate little brick in your pocket or bag. Overall, the Mophie UNV Snap+ Juice Mini 5K Portable Power Bank is a pretty solid option for anyone who needs a portable and easy-to-use charging solution on the go. That way you’ll always have enough battery to be regularly checking out all of the great content across Man of Many’s website and social platforms 😉 Find us at @manofmany pretty much everywhere!

No.1 Malatang

Claudette Sampang – Sales Executive

One of my university friends introduced me to No 1. Malatang a couple of years ago, and it has climbed the ranks as one of my all-time favourite restaurants. Malatang is a type of Chinese street food, translated to “spicy numbing soup”, consisting of an assembly of ingredients cooked in a communal hotpot and then served in individual bowls. Once you enter the restaurant, you pick up a plastic bowl and a pair of tongs, and you’re welcomed to a gallery of ingredients, including meat, vegetables, noodles, and much more that you can pick and choose from. Once you get to the counter, you can choose what soup base you would like (my personal favourite is the classic spicy ox bone soup), and the price is based on the weight of your bowl. I highly recommend grabbing a bowl of malatang as we approach the winter weather, as there isn’t a better way to warm yourself up than with a bowl of delicious, hot soup!

Jumping Goat Coffee Liqueur

Jack Boulding – Sales Executive

This week, I tried the Jumping Goat Coffee Liqueur and it has quickly become a favourite of mine. In the spirit of (no pun intended) easter being around the corner I had some fun making delicious easter themed cocktails using the Jumping Goat Coffee Liqueur. The Liqueuer had an incredibly smooth texture that seamlessly merged with each drink. The taste was so rich and distinctive that it added an exquisite dimension to my cocktails not to mention the pourer that comes in the pack… which has become my new favourite addition to my home bar.

If you’re looking for a unique and thoughtful Easter gift for a loved one, this gift pack is an excellent alternative to the usual chocolate eggs. Trust me, they’ll love it!

Cremo Shave Cream

Sam Mangioni – Journalist – Entertainment, Culture & Lifestyle

Ah, the eternal struggle between rugged, wild manliness and clean-cut, baby-faced sophistication. It’s a tough call, but I’ve succumbed to the latter after some tough love from friends and family. But hey, who doesn’t love a smooth, silky face that begs to be touched? Of course, achieving that level of grooming perfection takes some serious effort, especially when you have skin as sensitive as mine. Thankfully, I’ve discovered the magic of CREMO Shave Cream – the holy grail for fragile faces. This stuff is like a soothing balm for your skin, with a high-quality blend that hasn’t lost any of that slick consistency that provides a tight shave. And the best part? It’s super affordable so it will help you shave off a few dollars too.
