Summer may officially be over, but apparently, no one told the sun that. The last seven days have been absolutely sweltering, sending the mercury skyrocketing to unseasonably warm temperatures. Inside the Man of Many offices, it’s been a similar story. The team has been working up a sweat uncovering the big stories, like the 60-year-old weapon that just broke the world record for push-ups in one hour, or the fact that Hugh Jackman and I have the same 6,000 calorie-per-day diet. Who knew! Anyway, here’s Man of Many’s Staff Favourites for this week.
MR.SKINCARE
Nick Hall – Editor-in-Chief
Let’s not beat around the bush, I am looking old AF at the moment. My eyes are sunken, my skin is red and blotchy and my brow now sports a permanent furrow. How good. In an effort the reclaim some youthfulness, this week I tried the Essential Series from Aussie brand MR.SKINCARE, a super-straightforward starter pack that is designed to keep you looking fresh. The three-step offering includes a Beard and Face Wash, a Deep Pore Exfoliant and a Hydrating Moisturiser, covering pretty much all bases at once.
While a lot of MR.SKINCARE’s emphasis is on reducing the appearance of acne, my biggest goal was to make my face and skin a little less oily. I gym a lot and eat like a fat kid on school holidays, so I generally wind up with some greasy splotches that don’t do me any favours in photos. After using the Essential Series for a week, I found that the Beard and Face Wash was pretty effective at cleansing my skin, however, the real star of the show is the Deep Pore Exfoliant. This little addition got right in there in cleared out my pores, making me feel far fresher. Admittedly, I don’t love the Hydrating Moisturiser, but that’s probably just me. If you’re looking to up your skincare game without spending a lot of time or money, I can genuinely recommend MR.SKINCARE.

Kitchen Timed Lock Box Safe
Scott Purcell – Co-Founder
This week I made a random Amazon purchase and got a Kitchen Timed Lock Box, also known as the kSafe. Apparently, it’s an innovative tool for building better habits and breaking bad ones. The concept is simple: set a timer, lock the box, and wait until the timer reaches zero before unlocking it. It’s made from high-quality, food-grade materials which are built to last, but let’s be honest – this is primarily for your phone.
The kSafe is an excellent way to combat addiction, whether it’s to your phone, junk food, cigarettes, pills, or other substances. With its timed locking feature, the kSafe helps you develop the willpower to make smart decisions before temptation strikes. I’m trying it out to try to build better habits and lock my phone away before I head to bed or before I head down to the beach to force myself to read rather than waste time scrolling. I’m yet to properly try it out bit it’s a scary thought to accidentally lock your phone away for two days (and yes we’re serious you can’t open it until the timer runs out).

waterdrop Microdrink
John Guanzon – Head of Social
Trying to make a conscious effort to drink your daily recommended intake of water? Listen up for a hack. I’ve been dropping in waterdrop Microdrink cubes into my drink bottles all week and can tell you, I’ve been feeling more hydrated than ever. I mean, it could have been the sweltering heatwave in Sydney this week that made me grab the water bottle more frequently, or it could have been the different flavours of tasty, vitamin-filled water, who knows?
The waterdrop Microdrink is a small, sugar-free cube that adds flavour to your water, packed in with natural plants, flavours and vitamins to boost hydration in a sustainable way. The Austrian company recently made headlines after Tennis star Novak Djokovic made a sizeable seven-figure investment into the hydration cubes, in hopes of speaking out against unhealthy sugary drinks in plastic bottles and the associated waste that comes with it. The Microdrink cubes come in a range of flavours such as ‘Focus’, ‘Glow’ and ‘Youth’, and I found myself keen to guzzle down my entire bottle in one sitting and then drop in another dissolvable cube. Each box comes with 12 cubes and is small enough to fit in your pocket or crossbody bag, so you can stay hydrated anywhere.

My Dad, Who’s Riding in the Variety Charity Adventure Ride
Ben McKimm – Journalist – Automotive & Tech
Once again, my dad will be taking his KTM 890 Adventure R and hitting the road this month for the Variety Adventure Ride, all in support of the Variety Children’s Charity. And if you’ve ever wondered where my love for cars and bikes started, you can blame this man right here. Throughout the event, he’ll be visiting local towns and riding some of the best roads around the state, but before he can get the bike out on the road he’d like to raise a few funds to give kids in need a fair go. In short, Variety continues to support kids, families and communities in NSW/ACT throughout the year with funds raised from the Variety Adventure Ride. It’s great to see him combine his hobby with a charitable cause, let’s just hope he doesn’t break any ribs this time around. You can donate via the link below, any amount means so much!

ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25
Sam Mangioni – Journalist – Entertainment, Culture & Lifestyle
After injuring my shoulder in a failed attempt to show off at the gym, I was forced to put my bulk gains on hold and find an alternative way to break a sweat. With limited options, I decided to give running another try after years of avoiding it. However, I needed a new pair of running shoes, and that’s when a colleague recommended the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25. Let me tell you, these are the comfiest running shoes I’ve ever worn (we’re talking foot cloud level). For those (like me) interested in the features, they’ve been revamped with new materials and are packed with FLYTE FOAM BLAST+ ECO foam, PureGEL Technology, and an OrthoLite X-55 and a Sockliner to provide ultimate softness and support. For durability and grip, the outsole is made of both ASICS LITE rubber and long-lasting AHAR rubber. However, an underrated attribute is that the knit upper makes the shoe soft and easy to slip on. With these bad boys on my feet, I may even keep up the jogging life after my injury heals.

Iiko Mazesoba
Claudette Sampang – Sales Executive
Iiko Mazesoba is one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney, and I’ve done my best to take every friend or family member there since I first tried their food back in 2020. You’re greeted with bright colours, fun music, and a cheeky shibe mascot welcoming you into the restaurant to try their fantastic range of dishes. Their speciality is their mazesoba, a brothless ramen that replaces soup with an umami soy-based sauce. Its literal translation means ‘mixed noodles’, describing how diners should mix the noodles, toppings, and sauce before slurping it up. My go-to dish is their ‘Zenbu Mazesoba’, which highlights their tender pork chashu, spicy pork mince, onsen egg, thick homemade wheat noodles, and more!

Cole Clark Fat Lady 2
Jack Boulding – Sales Executive
I’ve had the pleasure of owning a Cole Clark Fat Lady 2 for the past five or so years and it wasn’t until my most recent hiatus from playing that I realised just how nice of a guitar the Fat Lady series 2 is. Cole Clark interestingly is an Australian-made brand that competes with the likes of Maton and other top-of-the-line acoustic guitar makers. Cole Clark’s successes are largely due to the premium materials used in their guitars and the craftsmanship that is abundantly apparent throughout their making process. This translates into extremely versatile products with unparalleled quality of sound.

Miss Amara: Sarafina Rug
Clelia Niyikiza – Branded Content Assistant
I recently received the Miss Amara washable rug for my living room which instantly brightened up my space and added a refreshing touch of colour and elegance. Miss Amara is a brand that specializes in creating stylish washable rugs with high-quality, eco-friendly materials and I was lucky enough to cop the Sarafina rug in blue and grey from the brand. This rug is perfect for modern, classic, bohemian, or vintage spaces, featuring a beautiful printed design for a faded, vintage look. Being a once-a-week deep cleaner A-type person, I love the option that will allow me to use a washing machine to get the rug easily cleaned.
In terms of design, Miss Amara offers a wide range of styles, from classic and traditional to contemporary and abstract. The brand also collaborates with various artists and designers to create unique and exclusive rug collections that are sure to make a statement in any room. I was even offered an interior stylist to help me find the perfect rug, but I found their online option that allows you to upload a picture of your space and inputs a rug of your choice sufficient in picking what was best! They also have a try-it-at-home option which allows for a full refund if you are unhappy with your pick and shipping within Australia is free, which is a great bonus!
