The Ocean’s gang is officially back! Well, almost. With a prequel starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie already in development, it looks like we might be getting another film in the main series. George Clooney, who played Danny Ocean in the 2000s edition of the Ocean’s trilogy, recently hinted that he may be returning to the franchise.
While talking to Uproxx about his upcoming movie The Boys in the Boat, Clooney suggested that there might be a new Ocean’s movie in the works, revealing that there’s “a great script” that could potentially bring back the original cast.
“We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one,” Clooney told Uproxx. “It’s actually a great script.”
When Clooney was further probed about whether this new entry would be Ocean’s 14, he refrained from saying anything, teasing that he likes “the idea is kind of like Going in Style,” referring to Martin Brest’s 1979 heist comedy starring George Burns, Art Carney, Lee Strasberg and Charles Hallahan.

In 2017, Zach Braff reimagined the classic heist film with a star-studded cast, including Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin. The remake’s plot revolves around three seasoned seniors who hatch a daring bank robbery. Beyond this, Clooney remained tight-lipped about the yet-to-be-named heist film, including the cast and crew or potential release date. There’s also no confirmation whether the original gang will be reassembling for this one or if it will be a solo venture for Clooney’s Danny Ocean.
But before we gear up for Clooney’s grand heist reunion, Warner Bros. is already diving pretty deep into the Ocean’s franchise with a prequel movie set in 1960s Europe. Titled simply ‘Oceans,’ this prequel is set to star Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as the parents of Clooney’s Danny Ocean and Sandra Bullock’s Deborah “Debbie” Ocean.
When asked about the obviously interesting casting choice, Clooney endorsed the idea, jokingly quipping, “Yeah! Margot Robbie is my mother? I’ve always thought that. Ryan Gosling is my father. Now when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.”
