Lace up and prepare to get back on the pitch, Apple TV+ has renewed Ted Lasso for a fourth season, though hasn’t given a launch date: so expect the new season to drop in 202627.

While we don’t have many details just yet, we know that Jason Sudeikis is returning in the leading role, as well as as executive producer. And, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Lasso will return to coach a women’s soccer team in the next season.

“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,” said Sudeikis. “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

Ted Lasso is a multi-Emmy-Award-Winning series at this point, bagging back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series Emmys for the first two seasons.

The show follows the titular Ted Lasso (Sudeikis), an American college football coach who takes a job coaching a failing English Soccer club, and despite knowing almost nothing about the game, leads them to victory.

After launching in 2020, and finishing up its third season in 2023, the show went dark – likely due to the impact of the Hollywood Writers and SAG-AFTRAs Strikes.

While season three of Ted Lasso landed rave reviews, and debuted at No. 1 on Apple TV+, there was a bit of turmoil behind the screen due to the Writer’s Strike, which started kicking off in 2023. Just before the third season launched the writers behind the show, including Sudeikis, joined the picket line to push for better contracts and royalties for Hollywood’s writers rooms.

“I think the lack of humanity toward and just sort of making us feel like mice that just need to run this wheel … that doesn’t pay the rent, doesn’t put food on the table and doesn’t make the people feel good to run on that wheel,” Sudeikis told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

The strike ended in late 2023 after a tentative deal was reached between major studios and the Writer’s Guild of America.

How Can I Watch Ted Lasso?

While we still don’t know when the fourth season will drop, you can watch all three seasons of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+.
