UFC Fighters Praise Mark Zuckerberg’s Big Win at First Ever Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

Somebody get Dana White on the blower because Mark Zuckerberg is ready for a fight. Ok, maybe not. However, the Facebook founder proved he’s not just a keyboard warrior, snatching a bunch of medals in his first-ever Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition.

Taking to the mat at a May 6 tournament in Redwood City, California, the 38-year-old reportedly took home gold and silver in both the gi and no gi disciplines of the white belt master 2 lightweight division. Adding to the excitement, a number of UFC champs have praised the tech genius in the comment section of his latest social media post.

According to MMA Junkie, the billionaire began BJJ training during the COVID-19 pandemic and fell in love with the sport. Zuckerberg would then go on to represent Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu, a team started by Judo and BJJ black belt master Dave Camarillo. After rumours began to spread of his tournament debut, the Silicon Valley star shared his achievements on Facebook.

“Competed in my first jiu-jitsu tournament and won some medals 🥇🥈 for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team,” Zuckerberg wrote before thanking Camarillo and fellow trainers Khai Wu and James Terry for helping him train.

Zuckerberg went on to share a number of candid photos on Insta, publicising his latest athletic endeavours. In a real respecting real moment, a number of professional MMA fighters were quick to praise him in the comment section. Among them were UFC champs Israel Adensanya, Brandon Moreno and Aussie superstar Alexander Volkanovski. Volkanovski called Zuckerberg a “legend” and complimented his shorts, which appear to be a gift from the featherweight.

As expected, some of the replies underneath the Instagram post were downright hilarious. One commenter wrote, “Hey man your next match is against Mark Zuckerburg.” Another said, “Very human mark.” Additionally, some begged for a Mark Zuckerberg vs Elon Musk fight, which considering all the celebrity boxing matches over the past few years, isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility.

Recently, we saw Hollywood heavyweight Tom Hardy impress at a BJJ competition. We’re not sure if the two icons have ever met, but we reckon they could definitely sell a few tickets if they ever decided to battle it out.
