At long last, Ralph Lauren has dropped its full Australian Open capsule collection, giving tennis fans a first look at the stunning sports-inspired set. Returning as the official outfitter of the 2023 event, the third consecutive year, Ralph Lauren spilled the beans this week, hosting a series of exclusive events that made the most of the outrageously perfect Melbourne weather. Needless to say, the collection was on-point.
For the AO23 capsule collection, Ralph Lauren set its sights on sustainability, with the uniforms and towels created with a range of sustainable materials, including recycled polyester, recycled nylon and a unique material known as CLARUS. As Ralph Lauren explained, the patented textile platform is said to ‘transform’ virgin and recycled cotton to create enhanced cotton fibres with ‘high-performance’ attributes, like quick-drying and moisture management.
Of course, the official AO23 collection’s range was highlighted by a series of refined polo shirts, jackets, headwear and accessories, all available in a bold colour palette inspired by the tournament’s ‘fresh energy and playful spirit’. Better still, the fashion brand’s much-loved Create Your Own customisation program also returns in 2023, available exclusively on-site at AO23.
Through this project, customers are able to purchase and customise a series of newly designed motifs incorporating Polo icons. Fans can add certain elements like their name or initials by embroidering and printing on a selection of classic Ralph Lauren styles and designs.
As part of its duties, Ralph Lauren is responsible for outfitting close to 4,000 staff, including ball kids, lines people, chair umpires and other on-and off-court officials. Additionally, the fashion icon has designed a new series of commemorative towels to go alongside the official collection, all of which are available to shop at the AO23.
