Long time partners Salomon and Avnier have brought us some of the best trail running collabs in recent time. Even before functional fashion became mainstream, the brands have worked together on models such as the XT5 Softground and Speedcross 4, each time bringing fresh appeal to the silhouette by combining neutral or monochrome palettes with minimalist pops of colour – or in this case, mud.
Founded in 2014 by singer/director Orelsan and fashion designer Sébastian Strappazon, Avnier is a Parisian label rooted in practicality, function, and comfort. Here, the brands collaborate on an XA Pro 3D in two alternating colourways – ‘White/Tobacco Brown/Black’ and ‘Black/Tobacco Brown/White’ – and while Salomon’s have mostly been reserved to the streets by the fashion conscience, the technology trail runners have come to love remains, including;
- 3D Advanced Chassis.
- EnergyCell high-performance EVA foam.
- Customisable SensiFit structure.
- Contagrip outsole.
- Moulded OrthoLite insoles.
- Reinforced toe cap.
Ready for all terrains Avnier adds a muddy touch to the midsole and outsole to contrast the all-white upper of the shoe that also includes a signature black webbing stripe that runs down the length of the tongue underneath the QuickLace system. Avnier branding is also found on the insole and colours alternate between each pair. While the XA Pro 3D has always been in the shadow of more popular models such the XT-4, 5, and 6 this collaboration looks to change the narrative.
Expect to see the Salomon x Avnier XA Pro 3D hit sneaker retailers such as SUBTYPE, Incu, and of course, Salomon Australia from the 14th of April 2022. According to the overseas retailer, Bodega, the collaboration is expected to arrive in a quick-strike fashion, pairs are limited.
