Designed specifically for runners, the Galaxy Watch Active2 Under Armour Edition offers unique features like cadence based real-time coaching, six months free access to the MapMyRun premium membership and more intuitive coaching when paired with select Under Armour footwear. Although this watch is also expected to carry a slightly higher price tag.
During workouts, the unique Under Armour watch display presents key data such as heart rate, pace and form all in real-time. Earlier this year, Under Armour, launched connected HOVR trainers with a Bluetooth pod embedded in the right midsole for tracking performance. Using data from Under Armour Connected Footwear, users will see visual feedback and hear audio cues through connected headphones.
Galaxy Watch Active2 Under Armour Edition comes in a lightweight, sporty, aluminium body, with an exclusively developed watch face and two size options—44mm with a Black strap, and 40mm with Mod Grey strap. Both straps are made from a rubber-like material that’s said to be breathable, comfortable and offering a fit optimised for performance.
The special edition borrows many features from the new Galaxy Watch Active2, such as the returning rotating bezel and user interface. The watch face is bold and clear, and users can quickly access the MapMyRun app with a single touch. An animated Eclipse design glows and changes depending on the time of day, with well-defined time and date modes.
Samsung has yet to announce pricing and availability, although the standard edition Galaxy Watch Active 2 arrives in Australia October 8 with prices starting at AUD $549. Hopefully, the special edition will follow suit.
“At Under Armour, every product we design is built around the mission to make all athletes better, and we believe that perfectly aligns with Samsung’s mission to create products that enrich people’s lives and build a new future,” said Paul Fipps, Chief Digital Officer at Under Armour.
“The introduction of the Galaxy Watch Active2 Under Armour Edition combined with our UA HOVR connected footwear and unique MapMyRun experience will help runners improve their running form and ultimately their performance.”
