The Scotch icon has unveiled its newest expression, Grand Cru, a single malt matured for 23 years and finished in rare French cuvée oak casks. Created for the “non-conformist” Glenfiddich says the decadent new spirit is “uniquely crafted with a surprising delight for those tearing up the rule book and wanting to celebrate significant life moments in a whole new way.” Sorry, to all you conventional ‘yes men’ out there…
According to the brand, Grand cru is the result of six months of marrying time, which allowed new layers of luxury to enter the fold. With a myriad of aromas, from apple blossom to candied lemon and freshly baked bread, the new expression is a sensory experience. On the palate, rich vanilla, sweet brioche, sandalwood, pear sorbet and white grape build a harmony of flavours, enhanced by a long, opulent finish.
“Glenfiddich is renowned worldwide for its mastery and innovation, so we’re excited to bring that to Australia once more with Grand Cru. In true Glenfiddich style, we’ve continued to experiment and push the boundaries for whisky to create exciting new flavours,” Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador Ross Blainey said.
“We experimented to find the optimal maturation and finishing times and hand-selected the right balance of 23-year-old Glenfiddich casks out of our unique collection of old age malts. Marrying the best of both worlds, the final liquid is exquisite and a special tribute to each cuvée cask the malts were finished in.”
Housed in a stunning sleek, black glass bottle, Glenfiddich Grand Cru is presented in an opulent black box with a golden logo and firework print intended to emanate the spirit of celebration and the rich flavours within. Glenfiddich Grand Cru is available in luxury whisky retail outlets and premium establishments at a recommended retail price of $399.
