Irish coffee has been a thing almost as long as we’ve had both coffee and liquor. Jagermeister is stepping up that traditional combination with their new Jagermeister Cold Brew. The new beverage is actually considered a shot where “Arabica coffee and cacao blend seamlessly with the iconic flavor of Jagermeister.”
The Cold Brew takes the typical Jagermeister blend of 56 herbs, blossoms, roots, and fruits and adds in coffee and cacao beans. Because Jagermeister uses natural beans, each shot of the beverage contains around 10 percent of the caffeine of an average cup of regular brewed coffee. Jack Carson, the US director of innovation for Mast-Jagermeister, that the idea for the new blend comes from observing customers create the mix on their own: “Combining Jagermeister with coffee has been a fan favorite fro years, so we wanted to perfect that experience for our consumers and create a product where those flavors were perfectly balanced.” Carson added, “Jagermeister Cold Brew Coffee fits seamlessly into our portfolio, while speaking to our audience who want to live boldly and experience disruptive new things.”
Chris Peddy, the chief marketing officer for Mast-Jagermeister US, had a slightly different slant: “Inspired by the need for a complex and flavorful product that would complement those high energy moments, we at Jagermeister are continuing to innovate to meet consumer demands and flavor profiles. We wanted to recruit a new generation of drinkers, and in order to do so, we knew we had to create the perfect liqueur to be enjoyed across numerous occasions.”
The Cold Brew comes with slightly less ABV than its non-coffee version (33 percent). Jagermeister recommends that the drink “is best served as an ice-cold shot.” A 750ml bottle has a suggested retail price of $24.99. Jagermeister Cold Brew is set to hit shelves in the US and UK January 2020.
