Sky Bar Melbourne is officially opening and boy was it worth the wait. Set for an impressive grand launch on June 30, Yarra Hotel Group’s newest development, Sky Bar Melbourne is set to shake up the already stellar hospitality landscape, and none too soon. Five years of planning, progress, and COVID-19 delays have done nothing to stifle the extravagant bar and dining experience, with cocktails in the clouds, delectable dishes, and lavish furnishings from which 360-degree views of Melbourne city and beyond are all up for grabs.
The new multi-faceted venue will be on the 40th floor of the newly built Oakwood Premier Melbourne property, elevated 139 above the ground with views of Melbourne city- reaching over Port Phillip Bay, and across the Yarra River. Guests can expect to enjoy hard-to-rival dining and bar experiences, with the 5-star restaurant, STRATO, two V.I.P function areas with private bars, a luxurious bar, and a floating outdoor lounge.
“We couldn’t be more excited to open SkyBar Melbourne and for people to experience this exquisite venue,” Norman Khan, managing director of Yarra Hotel Group and Hospmen said. “Our vision for this venue has been to show off our amazing city in all its glory – from the spectacular city skyline to showcasing local artists, foods, wines, beers and distilleries.”
Upon arrival at the Oakwood Premier Melbourne, guests will enter the Sky Bar Melbourne via a private entry in the hotel’s striking lobby. Once ascended to the 40th floor, patrons will be met at the Sky Bar foyer with modern Milanese-style décor and projection artwork- an immersive concept showcasing 16 different loop videos of Melbourne from a bird’s view. The concept was developed by The Sequence Group to allow guests to experience the height of Sky Bar from the moment they arrive at the venue.
To the left of the foyer is the main Sky Bar lounge, which boasts a 16-metre stone bar and an alfresco terrace, resembling that of the famous rooftops in New York City. With seven-metre-tall glass windows, guests can enjoy views of the city skyline whilst enjoying appetisers, seasonal cocktails, wines and locally crafted beers. To the right of the foyer is STRATO, a 5-star restaurant providing contemporary modern Australian cuisine. Altogether, the venue is expected to deliver a quintessential Melbournian experience and a perfect reason to revisit the CBD again.
“We know the past 2 years have been hard and dining out is dearly missed. We have put a lot of effort into making Sky Bar Melbourne an entire experience and the venue has been developed by a team of people who are passionate about hospitality,” Khan said. “Guests will see this from the moment they step out of the elevator! We’re proud to be providing a bucket list experience for locals and travellers and we see Sky Bar Melbourne as the perfect place to absorb the best this incredible city has to offer.”
The venue is also equipped with exclusive dining spaces dedicated to supporting special occasions, private functions and V.I.Ps who need their own bar and privacy with a view on level 41.
