In terms of food, the menu is a beautiful reimagination of the OG whimsical Disney-inspired Once Upon A Time menu that sold out four years ago.
And that’s about all the details Nel wants to share at this time. The restaurant is keeping most of it under wraps (in true NEL style) but we can reveal a few little secrets from our sources on what awaits you.
Take yourself back to one of the all-time Disney films, Ratatouille, with a dish called Alfredo Linguini. The dish is a twist on the classic Ratatouille with layers of confit vegetables and lasagne sheets, béchamel and mozzarella cheese foam and a generous dusting of basil dust to finish it off.
Then there’s The Tugley Wood, inspired by none other than Alice in Wonderland. Yes, that means all the mushrooms you could imagine with an Australian truffle flavour that takes the dish to a whole new level.
But what Disney-inspired menu would be complete without an ode to Winnie the Pooh? The Great Honey Pot Robbery is a delicious honey-soaked sponge with a nest-like honey curd topped with bee pollen served in a honey pot.
Chef Nelly explains, “The team and I had a blast creating and curating this one. It was so much fun to create a whole new menu around some of my favourite films and we have carefully crafted dishes to bring out each diner’s inner child. Indeed, we paired it with fun cocktails and some sensational wines too.”
Once Upon A Time is not just a menu, but an immersive, emotional, nostalgic multi-course narrative where all those fond childhood memories will return in full force, every bite of the way. And if you feel in need of a dose of Disney-grade nostalgia, make sure to get in early with a booking – the menu sells out every year.
